What's wrong with Cillessen? Why aren't people not wanting him as a possible replacement? I think I rather put my trust on van Gaal and his staff on knowing how to replace De Gea

An appeal to authority is a very weak argument..if thats is the only reason you want him, thats not really a good reason seeing as LVG has made transfer mistakes before showing that he is not infallible.
Because they don't know him and therefore think that he is shit.
I'd like to think it's the price putting people off. That's what's putting me off anyway (he's not worth £20m+). But that's not it. Most don't think he's good enough, despite not actually watching the guy play more than a handful of times.
People assume he's shit because Van Gaal subbed him off for that penalty shootout.
He didn't even rate De gea when he first came, tried to block the move for neuer when he was at bayern and dropped a veteran keeper for kraft who was unproven and struggled as a result.
So yea forgive me for having trust issues when it comes to van gaal and keepers.

I think the players we went for during the lvg reign were spot on. He may have had failings in the past but so has every other manager including Fergie mourinho and all. Do you think they didn't/don't know too?

That's not true. He said he wasn't sure how good he was. He came with an open mind to clear out the deadwood so it's understandable that he didn't want to assume what he didn't know with anyone. Plus de gea was third choice behind the hapless Casillas and a benched reina for Spain so that may have confused him too.
It has to be noted that he started him in every single game for us including the cups. He has repeatedly told how important de gea is to the team and how he saved us. It's stupid to say that van gaal can't be trusted because of something that happened before he saw him play.
People thought he was bonkers when he bought Romero but it turned out he isn't a dud.
That sounds a lot like De Gea in his early years with us. I wouldn't be against it.
If you can quote exactly where I said that or implied it all, I would be greatful..Because all I said was that managers arent infallible, and that simply saying that the decision is a right one because LVG approved it is a weak argument..Even an infinitely superior manager over LVG made in SAF made mistakes too, proving how weak that line of reasoning is.
Fair enough but frans hoek is the best keeper coach out there. And surely the club would have made a list of keepers to target and if cillessen made it after all that I don't think it's because he knows him or that he is from Ajax. It would be because he is what we want.
He plays for Ajax. He probably faces one shot a week in that joke league.

Romero has 4 in 5 and the one exception was a freakish own goal. Clean sheets don't mean much without context.
