Pedro? Scored one, set up one, and was MOTM on his debut. But he wasn't what we needed apparantly.

My first thought when we choose to stop pursuing Pedro was that we had better players in sight and also that they were very close. We cant go after better players if they are totally unavailable or we are not ready to pay the price. Something must be going on. I will be surprised if we end up with no more players after the transfer window is closed.

World class players are really only ever either unavailable or when they are; they are available at a really high cost i.e. Ronaldo. When they do become available, you have to pay the fee and get your man. When players like Pedro come up for those types of prices you absolutely MUST get them. We didn't.

I can see us not getting any alternatives. We didn't replace RVP or ADM.

Someone from the lower divisions would be better than Wayne at this moment in time, because he is playing like a pub standard player. He looks old.

It's brilliant seeing Nani assisting RvP's second goal for Fenerbache, truly great. However, it's not as great as a Kyle Walker own goal or Rooney's ball control.

The irritating thing is that he is actually in his prime and we should be seeing the best of Wayne Rooney right now.

For most players they would be in their prime, but like others have said with Wayne starting so early he is past his prime. Sir Alex knew that, he was a good judge of when to get shot of players. He admitted that the only one he got wrong was Stam. One in all those years isn't bad.

I'd be very happy to get Barahino, seems we're not interested though.

there's literally been one guy on twitter pushing this deal. today he is saying that benzema is in london and the deal is done.

The same random guy all summer has truly caused an arsenal fan twitter storm, meanwhile every other source continues to deny.

Here's the tweet with a link to the article.

Would be hilarious if he went there and kept Mirallas out of the side. Other than that there is no way we should be doing any business with Everton. Sending us Moyes, forcing us to overpay for Fellaini and all those Coleman/Baines/Stones rumours is more than enough action between the clubs for a while. Also they rather wanted Cleverley on a free than paying us a few millions, yes? They can feck off.

Can't blame Everton for any of it really. We took Moyes from them, we missed Fellaini’s buy out clause and then paid an excessive amount. That being said I'd love to take Stones off them.

Thing is though is that if we're going t make any huge signings then surely we are running out of time to get them done? Does the window shut on the 1st or 2nd of sept?

I don't think we are gunna make a huge signing. Not entirely our fault cause I feel the ones we want aren't available this summer but very well might be in the near future (Kane, Bale, Reus etc). What is disappointing is that there's still room for an attacking player this window, doesn't have to be world class, just to add a bit of something to our attack.

Solved one problem, created another.

window isn't done yet we signed falcao on deadline day remember ? Doesn't have to be a big name either way, they just need to have pace and be creative.

We didn't need to replace ADM cause his contribution wasn't that great anyway. As for RVP, maybe we should have kept him, especially if we didn't intend to buy another striker.

Pedro Rodriguez says he chose Chelsea over Manchester United and Manchester City because they put in the most effort to get the deal done.

"There was interest from a lot of clubs in England, like United and City," he confirmed on Monday.

"I was flattered, but Chelsea were the team that could resolve the situation the quickest and who showed the most interest in me."

That explains it. We weren't that interested at all.

Our top assister, that needs to be replaced, whether his all round performances wasn't that great. The fact we're struggling to create chances/score goals should make that part at least apparent.

Most of it came in that short period when he just came and had a bright start. Our best period in the 2nd half of the season was mostly without him.

I agree, but we also towards the end of last season, struggled for goals and lacked pace in attack. Depay has helped with that already, but we need more.

Odd logic, he was signed as our creative force, just because he was ineffective and sold doesn't mean we no longer need a player offering creativity.

We spent too long trying to negotiate the release clause, that doesn't mean we weren't interested, we'd agreed terms and spent a month trying to negotiate the deal. Chelsea came in and showed they'd just pay the whole thing immediately and Pedro felt more wanted by them.

We absolutely wanted Pedro but got complacent.

We were interested but apparently not that much. Also Pedro says other English clubs were just interested, he doesn't mention personal terms agreed with anyone.

Looks like they were too quikc in submitting that headline.

We were interested in Fellaini all summer but didn't pay his release clause either but persisted until the final hours of the transfer window. The Pedro deal would have dragged on while we tried to be clever in the same way had no one else come in for him. We wanted Pedro absolutely.

We didn't want Fellaini though.... we wanted Fab
