Get in..

As if we ever believed he is going elsewhere, unless they play Ronaldo as a CF, that would have kept the central Bale move possible with James and Isco on the wings..

Actually, reading the Benzema thread there was actually people that thought there was a realistic chance he'd leave Real Madrid for Arsenal which there never was. Benzema is the perfect striker for Real Madrid and the way the play. I know it's Real Madrid and all, but Benzema at least isn't ugly, he's not old, he's in his prime and pretty much the perfect striker. He's a starter & he's scoring goals, providing assist. Is there a striker Real Madrid would rather have over him? he's a top 3 in striker in the world together with Agüero and Suarez and since they haven't tried to get Agüero most likely they don't.

He also loves playing for Real Madrid and has stated so multiple times. He doesn't want to play anywhere else.

Summary: Benzema will not leave Real Madrid until anytime soon.

People are too worked up with that 'my captain always plays' line. He wont have a problem with dropping him if he'll continue to be shit. He has proved that in the past, dropping his captains.

I can't really argue that he will or won't be dropped in the future. At least for the moment, dropping him doesn't look likely despite his performances.

Giving Rooney every chance is all good (he always needs more time to get to 100%), but when he's doing feck all in a game and makes us look like we're playing with 10 men, then it's better to sub him off. His performance vs Villa was painful to watch. I guess the current lack of quality options up front is contributing to Rooney playing the full 90 minutes in games where he isn't doing much. Hopefully the issue will be addressed this week.

Who is the best 'pure' striker in the world?

I guess its no quotes in that article? ESPN is not very accurate.

Edit: there are quotes ffs. Then I agree, a ridiculous stance.
Yeah I just checked too.

He counts Fellaini too, interestingly.

I'm hoping it's just one of those things you say because you have to say it.

I'd agree in part, he has the look, it hasn't always been a love in and his start was tough IMO.. They'd benefit more from a poacher, a pure out and out goal scorer, they have so many self assisting threats in Ronaldo/ Bale etc that I think a pure finisher like VP was would have done better, but due to the fact there aren't many specialists in the box at the level at the moment, he is one of the top strikers in the world.

I just don't rate his "goal scoring instinct", his play is brilliant and he's clearly very talented, but he's like Rooney in that he wants to be involved in the build up, as opposed to someone like Hernandez.

Everton turn their attention to Bernard after dropping interest in Yarmolenko because of tough negotiations with Dynamo Kiev.

I do trust LvG, and I really think that we are working hard to bring in at least one new player. We need a player that you know will get us goals, a player that defenders fear.

We are a powerhouse in football and we should be able to get a player like this. It would be naive to take a chance on Rooney as our main man. Januzaj and Memphis are young and learning, and we cant count on them in every match.

He basically means someone who would genuinely and substantially improve our first XI, of which he clearly doesn't think there are many/any available. I'd say he's correct.
I disagree with it regardless. Sometimes you sign stop gaps who do a good job. I'd rather we did that than.

Absolute madness if we go into this season on all fronts with an out of form Rooney, Chich and Wilson. We'll be laughed at

There must be someone who is better than Rooney of present. If he doesn't improve it will be LvG's job. Can't see how we are going to score.

There has to be a striker out there who can hold the ball up and compete with strikers with his back to goal, even if he isn't one of the best around. Rooney has lost this, Chicharito never had it, and Wilson is a frail kid.

Lukaku

Every player has a price, except for maybe Ronaldo and Messi, even though I guess they have a price too. That said, we can get players who I would say are either world class or are on good way to become one.

My list of players that could be available if the price is right.

England:
Lukaku

Spain:
Bale
Griezmann

France:
Zlatan
Lacazette
Cavani

Italy:
Higuain

Germany:
Reus
Müller
Lewy

@Acquire Me Those are players if we have any chance of signing I'm sure we will try to sign. But I personally think we should even sign a tier two type striker if we can't get one of them. I'd take someone like Bony right now if we could sign someone of that level (not that silly price) he would add something we don't have IMO.

To be fair, I do agree with this to an extent. However, I would like to see us play Rooney behind Hernandez for a couple of games as Chicha has looked lively when coming on.

Re: our attack ~

I fear this is going to be like that old Eddie Murphy & McDonalds skit, with LVG playing Eddie's mum.
Wonder Bread ahoy...

Can you even imagine how much Everton would rinse us for for their best player at this stage of the window after they splashed out a lot on him to begin with? We're talking Kane prices.

At least he has had more seasons playing well for a smaller club at a young age, plays full internationals for a good team..

This team should be set up already, except it is all experiments. While this is going on we will fall further and further behind mainly City who have a team that is functioning at full tilt already.

Agree. He's looked threatening and was unlucky not to bag one on Saturday.

We could offer Evans as part of the deal for one. Also tbh we don't have a choice atm. We need a striker no matter the cost.
I would also take Lukaku over Kane.

Who do you have in mind?

We have no one playing in the no 9 shirt, do it Woody!

Pedro? Scored one, set up one, and was MOTM on his debut. But he wasn't what we needed apparantly.
