It would be a useless move, because he won't gain much from it, at Monaco he plays for a good team who plays continental football and will give him the playing time that he needs, Monaca is also a club who will ....

You appear to be confused, twisting back and forth with your posts. You say he wouldn't get much from it ... apart from (as you've also said) playing for a more attractive club, in a much better league and for higher wages. You might as well now go the whole hog and also ask "what did the Romans ever do for us?"

You also say that Spurs wouldn't give him the playing time he needs .... when more than any other Prem club last season we've given young players the most playing time and fielded the youngest starting XI in league games.

As for letting "him go when the time comes and for a decent price", words almost fail me. Spurs are not a charity: like every other club, if they sell they try and get the best price they can. And no-one is forced to sign a contract.

PS. Should Man. Utd let de Gea go, now that the time has come, for a "decent price"? Or should they try and screw RM for every last penny? Or, despite the existence of a contract (shock horror), would it somehow be "unethical" of them to perhaps insist that he stays for a while yet?

Well said..To me they are like vultures waiting for a bad performance to then come out circle and round on him.
What those people need to learn is: Wayne Rooney is human, yes. Wayne Rooney is an excellent player and a committed player. Wayne Rooney is the United captain, and a damn good captain he is. And he will be our capain next year. And the transfers we are talking about in this thread are about supplementing and improving the team of which the said Rooney is the captain. So get over yourselves.

Never underestimate the hate for Rooney in this forum.
Also I saw another is Rooney past it poll. Things like that pop up every once in a while..

@GlastonSpur To put it simply, Monaco is currently the perfect club for him, the level of the team, the playing time, the coach and it's a seller club. If he confirms next year he could sign for a bigger club than Tottenham, so why move sooner than needed?

For example Ntep who plays for Rennes could sign for Tottenham the move would make sense because Rennes are below Tottenham in every aspects.

I think you've misunderstood what I wrote.
Yeah I did. But still I think the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will find it easier to sign players from Arsenal or Atletico who are easier to deal with and act reasonable than Tottenham who are just mad and think they are a big club.

Benzema is as certain a no go as it gets, isn't he?

Why on earth would Benzema want to come to Manchester Utd? I mean what would be his motivation to move to a cold, rainy part of a country to a club that is unlikely to win the league or any European trophy up to his retirement?

Chelsea (Mourinho, London), Arsenal (London attraction and play good football) and even City to a lesser extent hold more sway than Utd nowadays.

Unlikely to win the league any time in the next 6 or 7 years yeah? Okay mate.

Your right, smaller clubs would be ideal for Benzema. You can add Liverpool in that list too

Alas one day we may be able to attract the Adam Lallana's and Rickie Lambert's of this world. Until then we'll get excited over tenuous links to Benzema and the like.

Regarding Vidal to Barca, how are they getting him so cheap? Only 25, Spanish and playing for a good club. Can only assume his contract was running out or maybe the overpricing we have over here doesn't really apply.

Realistically Benz's only got another 3 or 4 years at the top of his game. Can't see Utd toppling Mourinho in those times.

A) you said before his retirement. I'll be shocked if he retires in 3 or 4 years at the age of 30/31.

B) You honestly can't? Is Mourinho going to win 5 titles in a row then? Or are City or Arsenal going to win some?

We'll see in 4 years I guess.

Don't see why that would be the case, especially since we now appear willing to pay high transfer fees and wages. I agree about Chelsea and to a lesser extent, Arsenal.

....

Doesn't matter what permutations I try to work out, I just cannot see us coping with that schedule. Especially as we need to stay in Europa for our backup CL spot.

Or put another way, I cannot see us coping without 1 or 2 more new faces this window. At the barest minimum we need Origi back. For a bigger safety net we need to put in a serious bid for one of Lavezzi, Higuain, Benzema or Lacazette. And they seem like pipe dreams.

Otherwise the likes of Sterling, Henderson, Sturridge and Coutinho will pick up key injuries.

Also Benzema? You probably have more chance of buying Suarez back than getting him. Think how insane a step down like that would be for him.

It's the most insane one of that list. Despite the circus that is Real, Benz is settled there and has been there for a little while now, he's first choice, suits their style perfectly, is very effective, is probably on a very nice salary and is living in a beautiful city playing for one of the top 3 clubs in the world.

Don't know what Dumbstar was thinking tbh.

Crazy, just absolutely crazy. You lot to say that is sooo crazy. Di Maria took a bigger step down. From the same club. Where are your memories guys, honestly?

lol

Mourinho has no competition for the league next season, after that he'll relish anything LvG wants to throw his way. City will have got Pep by then with another 'Qatari Investment Plc'.

Both miiiiiles better managers than LvG, even you won't disagree. Arsenal seem to have discover their bottle somewhat too. Dark horses again.

Anyway Benz might not retire in 4 years but Utd may be looking at younger/better strikers in 4 years. So effectively the slippery road to retirement for Benz.

In all seriousness it's up to the personality of the player. A player like Benzema can either stay where he is and constantly be in the shadow of Ronaldo, Bale, James plus every new galactico that arrives each summer or he can move to a club where he is going to be the main man whilst still being paid the same amount (if not more).

Thats one stupid post. United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and the biggest in England. In England you want to play for United. The weather in England is shit anyways, so if thats important, go to Spain, London wont help.

I don't know where to start with this. So I won't.

With LVG's comments at the end of the season was expecting some more transfers to be done by now. Been rather quiet on our end so far. Even the rumors seem vague links.

The next couple of weeks should pick up as the players start to prepare for coming back to pre-season.

That's why it's quiet, the journo's know absolutely nothing.

I'm resting happy in the knowledge that the relevant people are working hard to bring in the right players and get what we can for those that have no future here. Every summer is the same wth regards to supporter patience - some transfers are quick and easy whilst others are difficult to negotiate and legal minefields.

It's quite possible we're waiting for the next round of internationals to finish before making announcements. I wouldnt' be surprised if we announced Gundogen shortly after the Germany Gibraltar match.

There is still like what, 9 weeks till the new season? I think we have a bit of time yet left.
