He's in third of our all time scoring list. If one thing Rooney is, he's consistently can score goals. For the second part of your statement, he used to be like that under Fergie, but he's not anymore. He conserve his energy better and works much more in the final third. The only time I've seen him 'tries to be involved in everything' is when van Gaal played him in midfield. I hope Rooney will be our first choice striker in a lone striker role next season. If van Persie accepted a backup role, then it's good enough for me.

I am not belittling Rooney or his achievements at United (of which I am fully aware) I am just saying I doubt he can lead the line on his own in all competitions for a full season. He played as main striker a lot this season and while he had some good games, he was average at best in others. I really like Rooney and I hope he becomes United's top scorer, but that doesn't mean he will have been the best player.

RvP looks all but gone, and even if he isn't, Rooney, RvP and Falcao couldn't and didn't do it last season so I doubt just Rooney and RvP could do it this coming season, and with the Champions League games on top. I would not be happy if we start the season with just Rooney, RvP and Wilson, and I doubt many others would either.

Turkish media DHA are reporting that Gundogan wants £170,000-a-week wages and that's scared Barca away as they're not prepared to pay him that much.
 Outrageous. He's not even that good ffs

We don't need a goalscoring striker in LVG team. With goalscoring widemen like Memphis and maybe Bale or Fellipe Anderson on the other side, all he needs to do is knit them together, create space for them to run into and bring the midfield into play.
Rooney is more than good enough to do that. It's not as if he doesn't score any goals ffs.
Rooney's link up play seems to be getting worse and worse.

do you think gundogan knows we will match his pay demands but wants bayern and barca to match what we are offering ??

Rooney should become the player who comes in and out due to injuries. We need a new main man upfront, especially if RVP leaves. Rooney will become the experienced leader but is no longer up to standard to be our best player.

He still scored 14 league goals despite playing in several positions this season, many of which were in midfield or as one of a top two. You don't need stats to know that as a team we played much better when he was played in his natural position.

Like he said. He lead the line and scored 4 goals!!!

Not enough from your number 9 when you are trying to win the league.

Isn't he a striker? obviously they need squad depth but they usually only play with one forward and Kane wont be dropped. 25m is a lot of money for Spurs to spend on somebody not improving their first team.

Really thought we'd sign Alves, big step down for him if he's moving to Milan, they're a midtable team.

No wonder Platini wants to ease FFP. It's because the Italian are going to go strong in the market it seems.

Which means he won't be there long.
Tottenham could be a grave yard for decent footballers with Levy there. Signing a player form them is always difficult and leads to inevitable circus, only Real Madrid recently have been persistent enough to push for Modric and Bale deals, imagine if those two had to stay at Tottenham longer - especially Modric whose talent was always way beyond Spurs but they forced him to stay when he wanted to go to Chelsea. In theory having a chairman like Levy is good for the club because he's always bound to work for a better deal for the club, I imagine it puts some players off though because a lot of players see Tottenham as a stepping stone to a better club and Levy is preventing them from that with his practices.

He shouldn't put a foot in that club, one more year at Monaco and he can sign for Atletico or Arsenal.

But surely it's just as easy or even easier, to get a move to one of the great clubs, from Spurs as it is Arsenal and Athletico. If he's that good then surely one day he'd want to player for a club like us, Bayern, Real or Barca. Now Arsenal have paid for their stadium, I can't see them selling off players anymore. I'd have thought Spurs are an ideal stepping stone club for top talents. They play youngsters and compete towards the top of one of the best leagues in Europe. I think I read they had the youngest average age of any team on the top 5 European leagues this season. Surely that's an ideal situation for a player like Martial. Also they only have 1 decent striker, so his chances of seeing lots of game time is high.

Monaco is a better team than Tottenham and they play the Champions League, so moving to Tottenham is useless. As for Atletico and Arsenal, they are both great clubs in great leagues, Tottenham is only an above average club in a great league.

You're not moving from Spurs to Arsenal or Atletico, ever. You're only moving if you run out your 5-year contract or if Levy stops fecking about and lets you leave, but that'll be for a fee that very likely no one will ever pay - certainly not Atletico or Arsenal.

I think you've misunderstood what I wrote.

Alves is better than Coleman and Darmian and miles better than Clyne, he'd be a great option for 2 or 3 seasons while we see if the market spits out a quality RB option.

Monaco play in a much worse league. In the Prem I doubt they'd finish in the top 6.
