Jason Burt: Done bit for Telegraph Sport, hopefully up soon, as it is breaking in France, but Spurs are in for Monaco 25m euro striker Anthony Martial.

He's in third of our all time scoring list. If one thing Rooney is, he's consistently can score goals. For the second part of your statement, he used to be like that under Fergie, but he's not anymore. He conserve his energy better and works much more in the final third. The only time I've seen him 'tries to be involved in everything' is when van Gaal played him in midfield. I hope Rooney will be our first choice striker in a lone striker role next season. If van Persie accepted a backup role, then it's good enough for me.
I try to ignore them as much as possible as I am nervously following this thread. But the anti Rooney lot have obviously excaped from a rival forum and decided to holiday in the transfer thread. Great servant to the club, wonderful footballer, a core of the club as captain and as speech giver, WR still has loads to offer. So does Michael Carrick. Yes, we do need another striker. Yes we do need backup to Carrick and a right winger and maybe a centre back. But please...

We should hijack that deal like Chelsea did with Willian.

A one-off that proves little.

They are still playing it, and they have a better coach. He will be stuck in your club if/when he signs for you, like Lloris or Eriksen, they don't compete for titles and they don't play the CL.

the more senior you are the more you seem to be taken for granted, the attitudes to these servants have been beyond laughing

Thinking back to last summer, I always thought he was considered pretty reliable on here. Is that not the case?

As usual, that depends on whether or not he was telling us bad news on the transfer front (reliable) or good news (obvious bullshit )

This all sounds like sour grapes over the thought that Spurs might sign Martial and that we continue to attract talented players ... like Lloris and Eriksen.

And if Monaco are so much the more attractive prospect, it begs the question ....

He has gotten things right before, so people tend to give him more benefit of the doubt even though he comes out with a lot more wrong than right on the whole.

Tottenham is the more attractive club but it's still an irrelevant club. And as for the sour grapes, yeah I don't like to see CL level players fight to have the privilege to lose against Debrecen in February.

There's nothing to suggest we have made Alves an offer though. All the reliable media reported was that he's on our shortlist, nothing more.

You should get your story straight: just a few posts ago you were saying "Monaco is a better team than Tottenham and they play the Champions League". Now you say "Tottenham is the more attractive club"

You are more attractive because the league is more attractive and you pay bigger wages.

Better team =/= more attractive club

In other words, Martial moving to Spurs would be a step up. Which renders pointless all your previous posts that attempted to portray the opposite.

It would be a useless move, because he won't gain much from it, at Monaco he plays for a good team who plays continental football and will give him the playing time that he needs, Monaca is also a club who will let him go when the time comes and for a decent price unlike Tottenham.

Basically it's like moving from Tottenham to Liverpool.

#Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed #Juventus star “Paul Pogba is one of our objectives.”

“Pogba is a great player and it’s true he is one of our objectives,” Bartomeu told Telefoot.

“Obviously we are interested in Pogba, but I cannot say any more than that. We cannot sign anybody before January, so I can’t say more.”

Aye, they should really have called it something else, when they aren't actually restricted from buying players.

Wengerism? Arsenal's-boardism? Gotta-save-for-a-new-stadiumism?

Well said..To me they are like vultures waiting for a bad performance to then come out circle and round on him.
