They still haven't been wrong or massively off the mark, shit happens.

Der western (Known as 100% for dortmund news) said we had a deal with gundogan, nothing came of it. It was then revealed that gundogan once receiving interest from barca and bayern demanded higher wages and a deal was called off by lvg and woody.

As for them only knowing what the club has briefed them with, the same could be said for guilluim balague. Madrid mouth piece number one, yet people take him more seriously on here.

Does that make der western wrong ?
It isn't about not being wrong, it's about being right, having solid information, investigative journalism, that sort of thing. You could pick any randomer on the street and they could write some vague story without really committing to anything.

fecking Red Issue and their "inside knowledge"

My sock puppet has more inside knowledge.

What's that, Mr Socky? You know who we're buying next? And Elvis isn't really dead?! Say that again; you want me to do what to Kate Beckinsale? Well, I'm not sure she'll go for it but I guess there's no harm in asking.

I can't find that anywhere on Socky's Twitter, tbf.

You're looking at a fake account. My sock puppet doesn't have Twitter account, because he doesn't understand technology. Because he's a sock.

This is more of a clickbait advert rather than a tweet.

You can't read what they've written without signing up!

Its worded like a world exclusive announcement as well.
It is, and the section it'll most likely be in is one you have to pay to view. Please don't post those sort of tweets again

Top post.
Indeed. One guy earlier on was demanding an explanation from the club for United failing to sign Pedro. He didn't state whether the reasoning would need to be made in person or whether a bullet pointed email / apology would suffice.

Social media has certainly put an interesting twist on the silly season in recent years. After every tweet or article the first question people ask is are they reliable? If you're for the idea/statement you don't need to look far for confirmation, ditto if you are against. Then, when the club makes a statement, they are either lying to save face or confirming what you had been saying they thought all along. There is not one club in the world that is forthright in there comments when it comes to transfers, they are all liars and rightfully so. Not to mention the subterfuge clubs will use to make others look bad/foolish, tell me that aint happening daily!

The other thing I find interesting is that single tweets, no matter where they come from, can take on a life of their own. One guy says something, others retweet and it may even land on a dot com as an article giving it even more credence when none is deserved. After a while a BS tweet becomes gospel, and people reference back to it as proof of their bias when it all started out from some unknown dude (dudette?) behind a keyboard trying to make a name for themselves or get clicks to stay employed.

The bottom line is there are only a handful of people that really know what is going on in any particular deal and those people are in a position where any leaks of information could be detrimental to their cause so they don't say anything. When they don't say anything twatters and journalists still need to put something out there so they guess at what looks reasonable/plausible, or just try and strike a nerve with the worst case scenario. Either way it's all bullshit yet it is remarkable how many of you think you can sift through all this crap and know exactly what really happened.

Yes but the problem then is that the transfer market is an ever changing beast. Targets can shift overnight. I agree that MEN have been fairly accurate on Utd this summer and half the time the flack the media gets is laughable. You might as well not be in this thread and keep F5ing manutd.com

Good post. I'd give it a like if I could.

Also far too sensible for this thread :)

Good post. I think technology in general, and specifically social media as you've said, has intensified the herd behavior of how fans perceive the slightest bits of information about the club and players. During matches, its quite common to see posters scamper off to player threads to vent about how player x or y is underperforming. Its more even noticeable in the transfer forum where posters seem to be in competition for who can break the latest tweet news first, which creates a lot of low quality tweets and has a knock on effect of other posters nonsensically discussing the content of those low quality tweets. Its a vicious cycle that can't be broken unless one first notices its happening.

Agree with most of your post. However don't forget that many agents ans clubs use certain media houses as a mouthpiece. Take Castles and Mendes for example. Or Ballague and RM. So they get fed info directly. You essentially get 3 kinds of stories. Pure BS, Possibly BS and Solid info. The key is unravelling which has solid info and which is possible BS. The Pure BS is easy to spot.

I don't agree that posters see it as a competition to break news via tweets. I certainly don't. I post tweets when I have spare time. Also I like the drama of the transfer window and trying to figure out what's BS and what's not. It's part of the fun and what keeps me sane when footy has left us during July. I suspect that's the case of most who spend a lot time here. I also find it strange how people shoot down people who post tweets yet moan when there's 2 pages of discussion with no tweets. I've certainly had fun decoding tweets and articles this summer.

Your tweets are some of the better ones!

apparently it is £10 to sign up .

There are two RI forums, one paid for (the one that tweets) and one not.

It is solely that now yes - it used to be a fanzine as well until that was shut down recently.

I just thought it interesting they lay the blame on Woodward and are hinting that something big may be in the offing.

Haven't their inside scoops dried up as of late though? How a United forum have inside knowledge on Chelsea v Jose is behind me

Been a member for years, if anything they've been incredibly reliable over the last two in particular. I've made about £70 in being on transfers that place has broke before many others (most notably shaw last year).

They have a link (sounds an extremely close one) with a particularly unpopular 'super agent' so that gets info on other managers/players also.

what are they saying?

Good to see Red Issue putting a positive spin on it as ever.

'we don't know shit, just pretending but we predicted this one right so read more of our bullshit pls'

Never change RI.

Well, if you went on it you'd know that's just not true. They had some very interesting info on the pedro thing a few days ago, and if what they are now saying is true (what they are alluding to) then it puts ed in an extremely bad light...extremely.

And no, I'm not saying. Is only 10 quid so sign up and find out. Would put a lot of the bull that's been written in this thread to Shame.

We will believe you if you share what is the news behind the current tweets :D
No can do amigo. They have people who check all these forums to see if anyone is leaking stuff. Then they track and ban them.

But even if they were saying Messi will sign (they aren't) everyone in the World will know in 12 days anyway. I've taken turds which have lasted longer than that.

True, but anything they feed to these people has an agenda behind it and we don't know what that agenda is. Is he trying to just get his player a raise, is he trying to get him transferred to a specific club or is he just a mercenary looking for a commission? Everything is situational so it's really hard to know why people do what they do and unraveling, as you put it, all of this is really just a guess or a way to confirm ones bias don't you think?

(And since I only get a few posts, I will also use this one to thank you for the work you have done this year on the tweets. Well done Stretch!).

FC Porto announce the transfer of Alex Sandro to Juventus for €26m.

"It's basically crazy the numbers which are currently kicking around in football - that's just business,"
"No one is worth €100m, it's just a trade figure, so I am quite relaxed about the whole thing."
"In Dresden, a fan addressed me with a megaphone: 'Hey €100m man, what is your playing shirt worth?' That made me smile,"
