There was no legally binding release clause, just a gentlemans agreement that Pedro would be let go this summer for 30m.
Barca were able to choose when the player would be let go, saying it was all just about the form of the payment, and keeping Pedro for the cup games while Neymar was injured obviously was going to suit them. If there had been no transfer ban and they could have replaced him then it would have been different.
In the end the player could have gone to United if he'd wanted to. They offered enough money. He just preferred Chelsea. And I'm not going to cry over a player who would have done that.

I dont think that he preferred Chelsea over us, but thats my opinion. But hell, he might have a better chance of playtime with them :D In the end, even if we didn't prefer him or he didn't prefer us, I am not very bothered by it. We can and should do better.

Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling -- that's a solid attack. Navas and Nasri for depth.

We simply must buy an attacker.

Surely we have AT LEAST £100 million to spend on whom we wish?

Please God, let Muller come to us ...or Bale/Lewandowski,

We need to complete our summer signings with a big one, otherwise this window will feel hollow.

Jesus, why do muppets always think that the players have no say in these things? If Pedro wanted to go to United he'd be going there.
Muppet  Oh yeah thats me in a nut shell. I reckon a few million quid probably means more to Barca than keeping a player who's about to leave happy, don't you?

It's very simple, Barca have on several occasions said they won't sell Pedro for less than the agreed amount - €30mil, pretty much every source has stated we've tried to negotiate. Whilst we've been pissing about Chelsea have been offered the asking price and a deal had been agreed.

Its a perfectly reasonable view, but don't let that get in the way of your pessimism.

Really, it would be interesting to know how you actually "generate" all that revenue? You don't have a very big stadium. Your fan base is very small compared to other clubs who are known across the world. That leaves you mainly with TV money and sponsorship deals. Many of your sponsorships are connected to UAE (surprisingly!) and thus you can try to boast of a big revenue stream. Still it is really interesting to see City splurge so much cash even if we agree to the amortised theory because you have bought players in previous windows who have cost a lot and they will still be showing as part of your expenditure.

This is for the 13/14 season:

Turnover 2nd highest, £347m (up from £271m in 2013)

Gate and matchday £47m

TV and broadcasting £133m

Commercial activities £166m

So we're only allowed to believe mitten, luckhurst and co when they say things we like ? For all the bollocking english press have received on here, i've not seen them to far off the mark this summer.

I'm yet to see what they have got badly wrong.

They said from day one we didn't want otamendi, said we dropped our interest in clyne a few weeks before he signed for liverpool also were the only ones adamant that we're interested in both bfs and schnederlin when most of the caf thought it was one or the other (myself included)

I think they generally get alot of flack they haven't earned this year. Maybe exclude mitten, he deserves some shit but luckurst and the other men journalists for sure.

So much for we are trying to buy the league, that's £8m net spend and also our wage bill changes will mean we are probably better off, we have a much younger team than our rivals too.

If the Glazers want to be tight (not saying they do) then Louis is what Moyes was supposed to be, he can operate on a budget and he'll be happy with young players who he can develop, I think our transfer business from a financial perspective has been good this summer.

They thought Depay was going to Liverpool, they said we had no interest in Schniderlin, they said Schweinsteiger was going to stay in Bayern, they knew feck all about Darmain and said we were after Clyne. Not to mention the numerous players they have linked us to, but yeah, they haven't got much wrong.

From a financial perspective it's been bloody brilliant, I don't think anyone could do deny we're far stronger now than the end of the season, only spent £10m or so net and cut about half a million off the weekly wage bill.

Come on, this is harsh.

I vividly remember them saying the opposite, and that we're interested in both. Yes they said we were after clyne but then luckhurst said weeks before he signed for liverpool that we had dropped our interest, different to the pedro situation which was all abit kneejerk and sudden.

Correcting yourself based on new information received doesn't mean you're a shite journalist. Targets change, interest was shown in many players because we had A.B.C targets (woodward confirmed this in a interview), and sometimes shit happens.

Depay fair enough, but again they weren't 100% wrong. Liverpool and Psg showed strong interest forcing lvg to snap his fingers and get it done, he said this himself.

I still haven't seen men get something completely wrong this summer like they did herrera.

They don't correct themselves they keep guessing in the hope they get one right. They have no clue until they are feed the information from the club.

That's it, when you don't commit to anything (because you know feck all) you rarely get much wrong. Sums it up nicely:

Just what I thought, we'll either buy someone or we won't. More soon.

It is solely that now yes - it used to be a fanzine as well until that was shut down recently.

I just thought it interesting they lay the blame on Woodward and are hinting that something big may be in the offing.
Haven't their inside scoops dried up as of late though? How a United forum have inside knowledge on Chelsea v Jose is behind me

They still haven't been wrong or massively off the mark, shit happens.

Der western (Known as 100% for dortmund news) said we had a deal with gundogan, nothing came of it. It was then revealed that gundogan once receiving interest from barca and bayern demanded higher wages and a deal was called off by lvg and woody.

As for them only knowing what the club has briefed them with, the same could be said for guilluim balague. Madrid mouth piece number one, yet people take him more seriously on here.

Does that make der western wrong ?

Talk of Bayern trying to hijack City's move for de Bruyne.
Well they aren't going to offer upwards of 50m and they won't offer kdb 200k+ a week, wolfsburg will likely want to avoid selling to a direct competitor also.

All depends on kdb. I really like calling him kdb.

Surely we must have something special lined up - Adidas will practically insist upon it!

Yeah just like addidas were supposed to insist that no new summer signings were to be announced in the Nike kit, or us having to unveil a stellar signing to coincide with the kit launch?

It's nonsense they'll just leave us to do things as we see fit, if we miss on top 4 then they'll punish us with the no CL clause, that's it.

Yeah, the talk is they're surprised City have convinced de Bruyne to leave this summer and were planning on signing him themselves next summer. They're bidding 35m + Dante and de Bruyne will stay on loan for the season (to keep the fee down, they aren't willing to match City's offer). He wants to leave now though and City have convinced him. This is taken from the owner of Bluemoon as well as the person who runs the CityWatch account, both posting in good faith and the former definitely has a legit contact, not saying this is all true though.
