Navas is a good keeper and I'd be happy with him, but we'd certainly notice the difference without De Gea. In fairness, though, we would with most keepers.
Would Navas be a clear upgrade on Romero? Other than a few games in the World Cup, I've never seen him play.

I really want us to go for Stones now just for the sake of it.
The annoying thing is that we probably have enough money to sign Hazard. We could make Chelsea our bitch at every turn if we wanted to. We just choose to not peruse things with a lot of players.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks United aren't perusing a forward or a CB so that they don't have the pressure on them to win the title. This way LvG can just bemoan a lack of quality/depth during the season and have his excuses.

I got that impresion when watching him but i watched Southampton just 5-6 times last season and i don't like to rate if a player is good or not based on just a few matches i watched. I would just argue against effective part, he is quick, can dribble but he is often waistful and do wrong final decisions...

Yes, wasteful and decision making is probably two of his weakest points. Physically and technically, he as the making of a very good winger. Hasn't much skills in his bag, but could beat most full backs with sheer pace. He also seems to have a good goal-scoring instinct which is hard to find from out wide.

Still not upset about Pedro. Would have liked us to sign him, but no big deal.

Same feeling. From the beginning this saga started, main feeling was that he's an ok player, nothing more, nothing less. I was a lot more gutted that Arsenal got Alexis Sanchez last year. Still am. With him on the right, we would compete for the title, no so sure right now.

I do hope we have one more pacey attacker lined up.

I think we still have options. Pedro was really sad to leave Barcelona and would have remained if he had been promised more playtime. First of all, it is better to have a player that really want to play for your club. Secondly, I think we always should be after players that are on a better level. Pedro is a great player, but not world class. His age also tell me that he cant improve a lot more.

So I cant say that I am very sad about this one. Just the though of seeing more of our young talents makes me happy.

One thing the last day has taught us is the press will literally link us with anyone for website traffic,

Griezmann
Mane
Some Russian forward no one has ever heard of
Some Real Madrid youth team player.

Appallingly dross from across the board.

so poor old Pedro would have chosen United over Chelsea? He's going to London pissed off because he would have preferred Manchester.
Fecking hell! If Pedro wanted United he'd be going there. End of story. He chose Chelsea over United. So feck him.
Of course not, Pedro can't force Barca to accept a lower offer because his bottom lip started wobbling. The reason this has gone on so long is because we've been trying go negotiate the price. Pedro wanted out and wasn't too bothered which of the two he went to. I think if he was given the choice those he'd probaby pick United.

I think thats how everyone thinks, the problem is the lack of any obvious alternative.

I don't know too much about Navas either but even at the World Cup he looked much better. I do not want Romero in net this season.

Ah shit. I was certain we were going to get him.

If we're going for the nippy wide forward type, then I'd throw all of our money at Griezmann. I definitely think we need to sign another forward player in this window, who's better than Mané.

Jesus, why do muppets always think that the players have no say in these things? If Pedro wanted to go to United he'd be going there.

Yep, United could snap their fingers and Hazard would jump at the chance to leave little old Chelsea who were just promoted from the Championship.

Well that would be a mild exaggeration mate. He is not that good he can just pick a team he wants to play for. If we wanted him, we would have got him imo.

Expect another article with repeating the same old stuff again, LVG wishes a new signing but wont be unhappy if he doesnt get it. In other words I'm writing an article about things I dont have a clue about.

Children. Demanding children. It's a generational thing if you ask me. We're talking about a type of fan who expects, demands in fact, a constant steam of gratification from big name transfers to success on the pitch. And a huge part of their need for this is purely bragging rights amongst friends and on social media hence this supposed "embarassment".
Top post.

That might be the most ludicrous thing I've ever read.

There was no legally binding release clause, just a gentlemans agreement that Pedro would be let go this summer for 30m.
Barca were able to choose when the player would be let go, saying it was all just about the form of the payment, and keeping Pedro for the cup games while Neymar was injured obviously was going to suit them. If there had been no transfer ban and they could have replaced him then it would have been different.
In the end the player could have gone to United if he'd wanted to. They offered enough money. He just preferred Chelsea. And I'm not going to cry over a player who would have done that.
