I think ESPN should tell their source to go urgently seek medical attention - they have signs of dissociative identity disorder.
he'll only leave us to go back when he gets good enough. Feck No, especially if he is a client of mendes.
Players costs are amortized over the length of their contracts. The entire 150m (If that is how much they spend this season) won't go into the accounts, only a part of it, based on how they amortize the costs.
I haven't seen City's financial statements in a while, so don't know if they are still spending more than they are earning. Though, even if we consider the wages spend of around 200m, plus the amortized costs and other operating expenses: they should be fine, imo.
@BobbyManc or @Manchester Dan are may be more in tune with their current financial situation and explain it better.
Really, it would be interesting to know how you actually "generate" all that revenue? You don't have a very big stadium. Your fan base is very small compared to other clubs who are known across the world. That leaves you mainly with TV money and sponsorship deals. Many of your sponsorships are connected to UAE (surprisingly!) and thus you can try to boast of a big revenue stream. Still it is really interesting to see City splurge so much cash even if we agree to the amortised theory because you have bought players in previous windows who have cost a lot and they will still be showing as part of your expenditure.Yeah I've read before about how players costs are amortised, which is really helpful for FFP purposes. People see the figures City are spending and instantly see that as one huge outflow for this window but in the accounts it is recorded differently. It was reported at the beginning of the window City had a £150m budget and if we sign de Bruyne then that would be basically our spend. We've shifted Dzeko, Jovetic, Sinclair, Lampard, Milner, Nastasic, Richards, Rekik and Boyata off our books to free up some wage space, and it's worth pointing out we're cutting costs by promoting Iheanacho as third choice striker and not replacing Dzeko or Jovetic. Ultimately, City will be aware of what they can afford to spend, so if we're spending it, it's safe to assume we can afford it. People vastly underrate City's revenue as well.
I am definitely not saying that the Southampton players we bought are bad players or anything like that though..In fact I think they are very good players..its mocking them for spending money there in the first place and then doing the same thing that I am talking...not the subsequent performances of those playersUnited signings:
Luke Shaw - £27m rising to £31m
Morgan Schneiderlin - £25m
Liverpool signings:
Adam Lallana - £25m
Dejan Lovren - £20m
Nathaniel Clyne - £12.5m
Rickie Lambert - £4m
Lallana and Lovren have been derided by the Liverpool fans on here, while Lambert has been sold.
We bought arguably Southampton's best/most important player in Schneiderlin and one of the most promising leftbacks in the world in Shaw.

Van Gaal changing his mind is just what the club is saying to save face. We obviously wanted him but spent too long trying to come up with a payment deal that Pedro got frustrated and Chelsea took advantage. This makes very little sense. So LVG decided, in the 11th hour, that Pedro does not have enough pace for our front line or that he is not the forward to aid Rooney but is instead a midfielder?
If any of that is true, that smacks of the same confusing and undecisivess for which Moyes was mocked and abused on here.
It wasn't that Barca were delaying things until the cup games were done, and that gave time for Chelsea to offer Pedro the London gig he really wanted?Van Gaal changing his mind is just what the club is saying to save face. One thing that was interesting and i read it on rawk and on saitsweb is that even if Liverpool completely raid Southampton they failed to recognize who are there best player, Schneiderlin. And in Shaw we got one of the best LB of his generation, arguble the best, who is only 20 years old and is good enough to be first team player for our team and for most teams in the PL.Im not saying buying from Southampton is a bad thing..far from it..We mocked Liverpool for doing exactly the same..Remember the Tesco in Southampton jokes?
With the main point , which shouldnt be distracted from as the buying in Southampton is just an illustrative point, being that we are so willing to mock others for the very same thing we do...We take it as gospel what the club says about ending interest here but do not believe it one bit when the hierachy at Liverpool does the same..Im just wondering why we look at those very similar situations so differently.
Believe whatever makes you happy I suppose. That goes against basically every report but if you can't accept we messed up on a particular transfer so be it.It wasn't that Barca were delaying things until the cup games were done, and that gave time for Chelsea to offer Pedro the London gig he really wanted?
No, that wouldn't stoke up enough hate for Woodward so that can't be it.
Yes I get that as I'm part of this generation. But you kind of have to take a step back and realise there are several factors that could be why transfers fails. Nothing to do with incompetence imo.Children. Demanding children. It's a generational thing if you ask me. We're talking about a type of fan who expects, demands in fact, a constant steam of gratification from big name transfers to success on the pitch. And a huge part of their need for this is purely bragging rights amongst friends and on social media hence this supposed "embarassment".
So you are saying that we could not have agreed a deal and got it sorted and let Barca keep him for a cup game? No, obviously that is not possible as we were happy to play the risky game of letting someone else come and swoop in.It wasn't that Barca were delaying things until the cup games were done, and that gave time for Chelsea to offer Pedro the London gig he really wanted?

We haven't denied being in for Pedro, we said we pulled out of the race, something which has been widely backed by the media. We overpaid for Shaw, but it will turn out to be a bargain in the long term, we didn't overpay for Schniderlin if that's what you're trying to say.We mock Liverpool for the exact same things we do..
Overbuying from Southampton
Denying interest in players suddenly as they join someone else( whatever the reasons)..I remember that Brendan Rodgers interview where he totally denied ever being interested in Depay..The truth of the matter is that sometimes do lie to save face..
They bought shit players, like Lambert ffs. We bought quality
Chelsea director was at the Monaco game last night regarding Martial.
Oh yeah, because it's not as though the media don't love putting a spin on any story that makes United look as bad as possibleBelieve whatever makes you happy I suppose. That goes against basically every report but if you can't accept we messed up on a particular transfer so be it.

so poor old Pedro would have chosen United over Chelsea? He's going to London pissed off because he would have preferred United? It's pretty evident that Woody flew out to speak to Barca and not Pedro or his agent. Therefore the only reason we 'lost out to Chelsea' was because we weren't willing to match the required fee.
Yes and it's not. Journalists are just making shit up. According to LvG, Pedro is a 'fast (and penetrative) player'. His pace isn't the issue.Isn't pace one of Pedro's key attributes? Why would that be the reason for deciding against signing him?
I bet you love the off-season on FIFA and FM.That's awesome. Now let's sell Evans for 8m, Hernandez for 12m, Get Navas + 20m for De Gea, add 100m kept aside for this window and buy us Benzema, Griezmann & Stones.
Simple. So easy. Get it done, Woody!

If we would buy Mane from Southampton we will once again buy their best player, at least that is the opinion on saintsweb. TBF i don't rate him as good enough for us but i understand that LVG knows a lot more about football, know much more what do we need and can judge players much better then in can, sadly many posters in this forum fail to understand that.
Liverpool bought good players but not good enough to be first team players for top4 side, especially the likes of Lallana, Lambert and Lovren are not good enough, judgement is still out with Clyne.
I can go back to hating his face again now.
I bet you love the off-season on FIFA and FM.
That's fecked up my day!
I got that impresion when watching him but i watched Southampton just 5-6 times last season and i don't like to rate if a player is good or not based on just a few matches i watched. I would just argue against effective part, he is quick, can dribble but he is often waistful and do wrong final decisions...He is, by quite a distance, the most effective and important Southampton attacker at the moment.
