I got way too invested in signing Otamendi. Seeing him in a City shirt hurts and the fecker was never even close to signing for us.

Hadn't Mangala been pretty good in their opening two games? I could understand them wanting to bring in a quality backup CB who's okay with not playing week in and week out, but to spend another £35m or whatever it is on another CB and always having a super expensive one on the bench seems weird.

Wouldn't be happy at all if I was Mangala. Doubt Kompany will ever be dropped if he's fully fit and they'll want to play their shiny new toy.

The only objection to De Gea's transfer being in the last week of the window is that we don't have a bloody replacement. Romero is a crock of shit and will cost us points. We've resigned to De Gea leaving so it doesn't matter when it happens, especially if we don't play him, but a top club not having a #1 yet is suicidal.

The other thing is that we lost so many players for no money at all (Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs, Scholes etc) since Fergie left. They have played thousands of games for us but were too old so needed to be replaced.

However, I think that we should have done better with the money we spent. The likes of BVB and Atletico won the league and reached the final of UCL with less money spent (both net and money spent on transfers).

Yea ok,maybe they spent less but again why no one asks or say why is that. I mean can it be that selling club dont ask the same amount compared with what they ask when we knocking in,or can it be that south american players rather choose Spain (or in German case, they also produce their own more, with better quality),also clubs in Spain/Portugal dance better when it comes to 3rd party ownership.

I am not trying to say thats we are fault free but also its not all because of us,because we suck,or we are laughing stock like some saying here, like its always our screw up.

Wov, just wov.

Lovely. There's always more hate for United players on here than even RAWK can muster.

It's hardly hate. It's an opinion based on his history and early signs at United. He is not good enough to be number 1 at a top club and will cost us points. Either way, we can save this for the Romero thread if I dare voice my opinion there.

The whole Ramos or no transfer strategy seems to have gone out the widow quite quickly.
Because this is obviously 100 percent true, just like the other 300 times they've said that we were about to sell him within a few days.

Early signs? He's conceded 1 goal in 3 games since the season started, and that goal was a horribly deflected OG.

He may not be as good as De Gea, and may even not be good enough to be our no. 1 long term, but he's still played fairly well so far and hasn't looked out of place thus far.

Why is the Griezmann thread closed?

What are we left with as wingers now - Robben, Reus and Griezmann.

Didnt Mangala and Otamendi play together at Porto? Perhaps in rotation they could play them together..it definitely strengthens them.

It says end of the window. Balague said the same yesterday and he's about as close to Mendes as you can get.

Looking at your posts it's obvious you rate Pedro (over Mata:eek:) Maybe we were interested , maybe we are no longer interested - does anybody really know - my point is people criticizing people without knowing any of the facts.
But for me personally if we're not signing Pedro and not signing Ramos and not signing Otamendi then I am very happy. I will also be very happy if DDG stays and also will be very happy we sign a top player rather than an average player - I will be ecstatic if we could sign Müller, if not I will be very happy if we sign Kane.. If not I will not wet my knickers and start accusing Woodward or LvG of incompetence, and I will fully support the club as I always have

Pedro is a better wide forward than Mata, so yes I do rate him higher. As for the rest, isn't it strange that when we beat PSG and Liverpool to Memphis at the last minute everyone said they were lying when they denied they were that interested, yet here when clearly the same thing happened to us you're willing to believe it? As far as fully supporting the club goes, I don't know what that has to do with having an opinion, support doesn't mean towing the company line.

The Pedro decision smacked of indecision and it wasn’t just United fans who were expecting him to sign. United players thought he was coming, the medical staff too. They’re baffled, but they’re not the ones making the decisions.

If Mitten is right, that is rather interesting..Looking at LvG's meticulous planning, You have to wonder what suddenly changed our interest..Maybe we will hear from his side what actually went on.

We mock Liverpool for the exact same things we do..

Overbuying from Southampton
Denying interest in players suddenly as they join someone else( whatever the reasons)..I remember that Brendan Rodgers interview where he totally denied ever being interested in Depay..The truth of the matter is that sometimes do lie to save face..

What do you mean overbuying from Southampton. We bought 2 players, both will prove to be very good buys it seems.

Im not saying buying from Southampton is a bad thing..far from it..We mocked Liverpool for doing exactly the same..Remember the Tesco in Southampton jokes?

With the main point , which shouldnt be distracted from as the buying in Southampton is just an illustrative point, being that we are so willing to mock others for the very same thing we do...We take it as gospel what the club says about ending interest here but do not believe it one bit when the hierachy at Liverpool does the same..Im just wondering why we look at those very similar situations so differently.

Of course we look it differently, football fans are like that. :)

It's stupid either way. If weren't keen on him, why on earth did negotiations go as far as Woodward flying out to Barcelona to convince them to accept a lower price? On Sunday, it was reported that we were steps away from completing a transfer that had surfaced in June. If we weren't keen, it's pretty silly on our part to have spent ages trying to convince Barca to accept our proposed transfer fee.

We lost out on a target, who gives a feck. I'm actually quite happy we missed out on him; just think he's not as good as he was (obviously) making this transfer a bit pointless. We should just throw £56m at Atletico. Although, I'm sure many wonder, and my self included, why we never signed Griezmann from Sociedad?

They better give us a solid explanation on that one. It is inconceivable that everyone, and I mean everyone, expected Pedro to pass his medical for us before we suddenly either lose him or drop interest just like that. Nothing makes sense whatsoever in all of this.

Until a valid explanation comes up, I say it stinks the same kind of crap Peter Kenyon did to screw up the Ronaldinho deal.

He never has anything new. He's keen to portray himself as an insider but he's a charlatan. Don't think any of his 'scoops' have come to fruition either.

Agree with this. I like his articles about United fans and history etc, but when it comes to transfers he always acts ITK without actually revealing much except for some minor details which may or may not be true. Like that "staff and players baffled by the Pedro deal falling through" bit in the article above.

Overbuying from Southampton

United signings:
Luke Shaw - £27m rising to £31m
Morgan Schneiderlin - £25m

Liverpool signings:
Adam Lallana - £25m
Dejan Lovren - £20m
Nathaniel Clyne - £12.5m
Rickie Lambert - £4m

Lallana and Lovren have been derided by the Liverpool fans on here, while Lambert has been sold.

We bought arguably Southampton's best/most important player in Schneiderlin and one of the most promising leftbacks in the world in Shaw.
