United spend a lot of time flirting with players they're not interested in, don't they?

Or the media like to make up alot of shit. The club have been denying Ottamendi interest for months

£24m + £22m + £6m + £12m = £62m out
£44m + £4m +£4m + £2m = £54m in

So yeh £8m net spend, there definitely is money available.

Wasn't depay fee confirmed as €27.5m? That's less than £20m

Whether we wanted Pedro or Otamendi at one point in time (which I do believe we did although Otamendi more likely back in the winter window) but then decided against them we need to move on as fans - the over negative/positive posters on here make me laugh.

The one thing for sure is they will both improve two direct rivals whom in my opinion were already better than us despite our own signings this year and I still believe will finish above us again this season.

Hopefully we keep De Gea and he performs to his abilities once again (even if for only one more season) and we can then have a good season and maybe win a cup competition and get to the CL knock out stages. I do feel however we are still someway short of seriously challenging for the league/CL league. Although we can still add a stellar signing or two (CB, RWF or CF) before 1/9...?

didn't we say we weren't going to sell him unless we got ramos ?

Will be annoyed if he goes and we get a weaker keeper in return from madrid.

Navas is still considerably better than Romero, right? I haven't seen him play much, but I seem to remember that he got rave reviews earlier.

Itsh a proshesh.

Not fussed about 'missing out' on either Pedro/Otamendi, especially given that if we really wanted them they'd probably both be here. And neither were cheap - people talk about €30m for Pedro being cheap but for a winger his age that's probably a fee of €10m and significant wages for each peak season you'll get out of him - you only do that for dead certs and I'm not sure he is that. Otamendi was very expensive too and I think there are better options, plus I think our defence is actually pretty decent.

What I do want to see in the remaining time, if at all possible, is a younger quick attacker bought and a firm resolution to the keeper issue.

Well i know nobody will take notice of that and all the people will be just saying how we spent 280m pounds or something like that since SAF has left. The truth is we spend around 110m pounds net while heavily reducing our wages since LVG came and we have much better team.

LVG is doing a great job i think and owners love him much more then we think. Bringing all the stars (Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Depay,...) who are commercial gold cave, turning atention away from the "no value in the market policy" while not spendind a lot and reducing wages, getting team back in the CL and transforming the team to one who could be a core to future success.

It still rubs me the wrong way.

We're selling madrid one of the best keepers in the world and in exchange receiving a keeper who they have deemed not good enough and was their previous no.2. Perez gets his man again for relatively little to no loss.

It's not big club mentality.

Have they? Publicly? Not like us to comment on such matters

The briefings have consistently been not interested. This however will not deter those who will remain, despite any statements to the contrary, convinced that we didn't get him beacuse we are a bunch of amateurs.

We weren't in for him. Pedro is a different story.

I hope we have something (not Mane) in the pipelines.

Not bothererd about Ottamendi, Pedro is the annoying one!

Complete opposite for me.
I still think we have good players who can play right wing, not as good as Pedro, but still very capable.
I am still not convinced about our CBs.

I'd much rather get a striker than a winger at this moment in time. In an ideal world we'd have both, but hey lol

We will probably sell Evans, Lingard and a couple of other players in the last 10 days which should mean we go negative on the net spend (not even counting DDG)

Every British journo was saying United told them they have no interest in him. Think some said United told them he was like Gaitan. Zero interest but a rumour that wouldn't go away abroad.

They are players that would definitely have strengthened us, and do definitely strengthen City and Chelsea respectively..but lets see what our current crop can do ..its up to the players we have now to step up massively in order to challenge..I think the post Fergie transition period will and has been hard, and that getting back to being "the" team in English football will be much harder than expected..especially with City's and Chelsea's money..But thats the fun of the journey in a sense..we will appreciate the next title that much more.

Via the media sources they usually use, the same ones that leaked our Pedro interest.

Hang on so which ones do we trust and why are they allowed to be post in here if the rest are bullshit?

It's all very confusing keeping up with whether the British media are lying and only the foreign media know what's going on or whether it's the other way round, seems to change a lot. Oh and one minute we don't leak news then suddenly we are briefing the press.

Crazy world

My biggest fear isnt necessarily selling DDG( He is a brilliant keeper, but he is set on leaving, and Ive almost made peace with it), But rather possibly buying Cillisen as his replacement..letting DDG leave next year gives us a chance to look for better replacements..and also give current targets a further year to prove themselves...

Love how media when talk about other teams spending, they use NET spend bs but when they talk about us...they just keep shouting "250 mil. pounds they spent! 250! and still they are short in almost all departments!"

To think some here share their opinions why we did not sign Pedro...

I think the same. I'm not sure about the others, but I'm annoyed that we didn't sign Pedro as he seemed like the only quality winger left in the market - if there were others I wouldn't really be bothered. He was also at a good price compared to Otamendi, who feels overpriced.

If we can get another decent attacker within this window, I am sure no one would be too bothered about missing out on Pedro.

I think it was the Villa game I was watching and that idiot Redknapp said that for the amount of money LVG has spent that he would expect us to win the league. I'm sure it would be a different story if he was talking about Rodgers who has actually spent more.

The narrative of United buying their way to titles sells..nobody mentions that Rodgers spent 120 mil last season and took Liverpool from 2nd to 6th

The other thing is that we lost so many players for no money at all (Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs, Scholes etc) since Fergie left. They have played thousands of games for us but were too old so needed to be replaced.

However, I think that we should have done better with the money we spent. The likes of BVB and Atletico won the league and reached the final of UCL with less money spent (both net and money spent on transfers).

Thats not even what bothers me the most, nobody seems asking why we spent that much, what happened before LvG,or during LvG first season, hell even what happened before Moyes. Still remember in some of first game of season that moron Tyler said something among the lines how we throwing money to solve our problems,i mean really, where the feck were they when others were doing the same.
