Tbh I want success and I'm all for spending to get us back to the top. What irks me is people being constantly embarrassed and stating we're run by idiots.

Children. Demanding children. It's a generational thing if you ask me. We're talking about a type of fan who expects, demands in fact, a constant steam of gratification from big name transfers to success on the pitch. And a huge part of their need for this is purely bragging rights amongst friends and on social media hence this supposed "embarassment".

THat's true, I've seen a few posts with people complaining their mates are making fun of them or some guys on twitter..

This.

The manager didn't, a journalist asked specifically about Pedro and the manager played along. Maybe he was a target at the time, but unlike Di Maria for example, Pedro name came from the journo not Van gaal.
And once again the press spent a month repeating the exact same info, which tells me that they had something early July and then nothing, a lot could have happen in Van gaal's or Pedro's mind in a month.
You're in denial. We obviously wanted him and have been in negotiations with him/them. How many other players has Van Gaal just "played along" with to the press? It would be unprofessional to talk about presenting another club's player to the press unless you were pretty certain of signing them.

I'm not, since I'm not denying any options, there is two possibilities not one.

Yep you're so right.

We want utd to sign big names so we can banter people on twitter, wanting to win titles, see our team compete and win at the highest level again has nothing to do with it. All for those 140 characters. You hit the nail on the head.

Man we missed out on pedro so it looks like I can't tweet jokes to the chelsea fans anymore, him potentially making us a better team and solving an issue within our squad has nothing to do with it.

He did. There was a interview before the one last week where he named Pedro.

Jesus fecking Christ, we couldn't manage to get Pedro - let's fecking move on! The forum was full of drama queens yesterday, over-analysing every single thing and calling Woody an idiot and our transfer window embarrassing despite us signing 5 players who've all performed very well since the start of the season.

We don't know what happened behind the scenes. Maybe the little fecker rejected us - it happens, or maybe Van Gaal changed his mind in the last minute - it happens as well. Maybe Woody couldn't agree a deal with Barcelona because we didn't think Pedro was worth the money? It may be surprising to many people on here, but the club must have had a good reason.

Pedro would have been a good transfer (probably), but people are acting as if we've fecked up the Ronaldinho transfer again. Get a fecking grip, I'm sure we'll sign somebody else and even if it's Sadio Mane, I'm sure Van Gaal knows what he's doing. Mane is not the glamour signing everyone wants, but it seems like the club can't really win here. Sign Di Maria - ''FFS we've lost our identity''. Sign Mane - ''from Di Maria to Mane ffs, what are we doing?!''

I think the transfer window shouldn't be this long. Maybe they could extend it in the summers of major international tournaments, but it really should end when the season starts.

You are so spot on with this, that it should have its own thread.

You are definitely right, it's all about how they look among their friends and e-friends.

So that's Mangala relegated to the bench and Denayer coming back pointless. Can see at least one of them leaving.

Otamendi is there as a Mangala face saver, this doesn't bother me.

Pedro to Chelsea is a shocker though.

Don't think LVG particularly interested in Otamendi at all. Not his type of player.

Not bothererd about Ottamendi, Pedro is the annoying one!

I'm looking forward to transfer deadline day. We are still in for some players so only going to be a benefit as the squad looks good anyway.

The attack is lacking

United spend a lot of time flirting with players they're not interested in, don't they?
