It's certainly interesting. BBC wouldn't have reported this without some pretty solid sources so I'm wondering where the info was leaked from. It honestly seems totally unbelievable and going by Southampton's comments it would appear it's come from United's camp. But why?

If we are in for Mane then the leak is to put pressure on Southampton. If Mane wants to leave then he will make noise to get out and join a Champions league club, it will also give us an indication if he wants to join us before we make a bid and he turns us down.

Silly move if that's the case. They kept Schneiderlin for an extra year despite him wanting to go. Our best chance of this would be to do it properly.

Anyway, I'm not convinced. Very odd.

If it makes anyone feel 1% better, Ladyman writes:

"United are understood to be working on one big name signing that they hope to pull off between now and September 1, even if interest in Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller seems ambitious at this stage."

Bayern fans will be calling for Rummenigge's head if he sells BFS and Müller in the same window. Stop trying, Woody. Look into other targets.

Thomas Muller isn't really a big name. Its only 11 letters.

EDIT: 12! 12 Letters :/

Wait. Is Thomas Muller the big name? Or someone else (with the big name) + Muller?

Griezemann??

Why are there still fools on here who actually believe that it's Woodward who decides which players we are going to sign and why do people believe every single rumour and comment and then start berating him or LvG for something they probably haven't even done just because some moron in the press makes a comment

Is everyone 12 on here? or escaped from the asylum?

This transfer window has been a bit like me in bed.

A slow start, a frantic period in the middle and an overall feeling of disappointment for everyone involved...

Judging by his post, I imagine the woman doesnt orgasm when he shags her. The next 2 weeks is her finishing herself off. So we could be in for a happy fortnight!
Offtopic: i never understood how this is possible...

Almost everyone is disappointed that we missed or ignored Pedro, but that's silly to ignore all the good signings that we made, all the great deals negotiated by Woodward. And it's silly to consider that when a deal goes through it's because of everyone but Woodward and when we miss an opportunity it's Woodward's personal fault.

As I said I didn't agree with the body of Randall's post, just that this notion that everyone who is irritated by the Pedro balls up is 'insert insult' is tiresome.

It's when posters do nothing but focus on the negatives that frustrates a lot on here.

Isn't that all part of the board? It's not all sunshine and rainbows and the board reflects that, it's natural that the course of events will dictate the mood of the board at any given time, the freedom for it to be that way is what separates the Caf from a place like RAWK.

But I didn't insulted him and I won't.

I really hope we are keeping an eye on Martial. Reminds me so much of a young Henry.

United’s take on the matter last night was that they had decided against pursuing their interest in Pedro when manager Louis van Gaal decided on Tuesday that he didn’t want the player after all.

It seemed a rather co-incidental explanation especially given that chief executive Ed Woodward was in Barcelona as recently as Monday – but it is very much the case that Van Gaal has long since held slight reservations about Pedro. That was reported in Sportsmail during United’s pre-season tour of America and once again as recently as two days ago.

Nevertheless, if United haven’t been gazumped by Chelsea then they still stand accused of prevaricating over a transfer in a manner they vowed not to after learning the lessons of the David Moyes era.

Moyes was accused privately of dithering, for example, over the transfer of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara two summers ago, allegedly getting cold feet over the deal just as it was on the verge of completion.

If United are to be taken at their word this time then it would appear that Van Gaal has done exactly the same. United’s interest in Pedro dates back to late June so supporters are now within their rights to ask why it has taken until the final furlong of the transfer window for their manager to suddenly decide he doesn’t want him.

United have, of course, lost out to Chelsea on players before, Michael Essien, Michael Ballack, Arjen Robben, John Obi Mikel and Cesc Fabregas all ending up at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea’s northern rivals expressed firm interest at one stage or another.

For United now the challenge is to make sure they sign the player their squad needs between now and closure of the transfer window in eleven days.

Van Gaal said in San Jose three weeks ago that his team still needed a player of “creativity” to complete its summer overhaul. Since then they have not added any players and it is unlikely that his interest in Southampton’s Sadio Mane fits that ambitious criteria.

United are understood to be working on one big name signing that they hope to pull off between now and September 1, even if interest in Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller seems ambitious at this stage.

It yes, but some posters deliberately ignore important events or information because it doesn't suit their argument.
Not talking about any poster in particular, just in general.

I'm not sure what's worse. The fact that you counted the letters, the fact you counted the letters incorrectly or the fact I counted the letters to check you got it wrong.

No. What is worse is the fact I initially counted 10, then edited it to 12 and actually wrote 11. So a nightmare all-round really :(

That's true and we have seen that today as regards people ignoring the 4 good deals we have done this season, but the counter problem is those that think because we fixed certain areas of the team it means we shouldn't voice annoyance over a cock up in a fix for an area of the team even the manager identified as important.

I suspect we will be linked to a number of players over next week....but can't see any top ones being attainable at this stage of the window.

I was just talking in general about the attitude towards anyone posting the view that we cocked the Pedro deal up.

its rawk-like sometimes in here with some posters on a self styled mission to have everyone conform to their supposed positivity...

The club has lost out on a target ( and he was very much a target even yesterday) that people felt was close to completion..people are disappointed...thats a normal human reaction.

The thing that annoys is that its the same posters in almost every thread complaining about anyone that complains...not criticizing anything that happens inside a football club doesnt necesarily make one a better fan either.
