So, when Ed pays the asked ammount it's not a good deal, when he doesn't, again it's not a good thing to do, as he should have done it....

This literally goes for every club, you can't do the right thing. How do you pay less if the club doesn't want to sell for less and why should you pay the amount they ask if you value the player less?

After this summer to moan about transfers.... For Gods sake....

Yeah that is my feeling as well, just look at this for example

I mean it's ok to question his transfers but that's pretty poor form from a journo imo

Is he for real? He's a fairly respected "sports journalist" working for the Telegraph and he comes out with this shite. We have completely rebuilt our squad in the last two seasons with Woodward, the management and probably other senior board members involved too.

If we wanted to sign a player for £22m then we would. We'd agreed terms with Pedro apparently and we obviously weren't totally convinced he was the right player. Maybe van Gaal wanted to play a few games to really see what we needed and another winger isn't it in his eyes.

I can't understand how these journalists get these jobs at broadsheet newspapers and write such drivel.

Yea it seems people on here seem to be harvesting the Real Madrid attitude, we need to be making 6 signings a summer now. This is our best summer for transfer business and have got exactly what we needed in the team. Yet fans don't seem happy that we have made 4 signings so far, how many summers did we have like this under Fergie with David Gill? Don't think we were berating Gill as much when we missed Snjieder, Hazard, Ronaldinho, Lucas Moura even Gareth Bale when he was at Spurs.

As for Matt Law, what a douche bag he is. We completed ADM and Falcao last season, 2 World class players, short term memory.

Looking at that RedCafe twit,we should make a squad as protection vs all those ABUs,we have enough talent here, photoshop pics,GiFs you name it.Its time to strike back at all those journos!

Totally agree about the Telegraph, lazy journalism and a cheap shot. Was on his Twitter page and its filled with derogatory comments regarding the transfer dealings and how Chelsea hi-jacked the deal. Woodward has done a fantastic job with us and its seen with the players we have had/have in the team and also the sponsors and the money being brought into the club.

I reckon Pedro wasn't totally convinced on LVG and his philosophy and was stalling. The way LVG said the ball was in Pedros court gave the impression that we have made an offer of contract and gave certain assurances but he wasn't totally sold on the idea. Then the decision was made to pull out of the deal on Tuesday night, Barca alerted Chelsea after they made an enquiry a week previous, and things have went from there. To say they hi-jacked the deal is a bit off the mark I reckon. Once we declined Pedro I then think Chelsea made contact, and as Mourinho needed something different up front he got the deal fast tracked.

Why woodward decided to leak this I'll never know. Sometimes he just acts like an utter clown.

I seen something on TV that it was LVG that if the deal wasn't tied up quickly he just moves on and drops interest. So maybe it's not all Woody.

I'm more referring to the Mane story. Southampton are adamant there is nothing to comment on at all. This just smacks of arse covering PR nonsense....but how he comes up with Mane I'll never know.

I think it's pretty obvious that whatever it was the decision was made by either Pedro or Lvg and had little to do with Woodward. Maybe we weren't sure on him and felt that we could keep him as a backup option in case something else doesn't come up and Chelsea decided to get it done but it just can't be about a couple of million.

Yeah i think Barca leaked too much info for our liking. As we saw with other deals we want to do them under the radar but it looks like Barca just kept on leaking the info to Spanish media so we dropped our interest.

I think Mane would be a good signing to be fair

Again how does leaking this help cover our worse, it obviously makes us look way worse. Not everything is leaked anyway, most of the United covering journos are clueless hacks who just copy each other when they can't get in themselves

Unsure about this, the BBC did get involved.

We've briefed the media, that's for sure.

Why? One of two reasons, I suspect: 1) Put out the fire that was the "snub" from Pedro i.e. we're not in for him, just more smoke. 2) We're actually in for him, but then that leads to question why did we brief the media (when we normally don't)?

The circle of life (transfer speculation).

Wouldn't be surprised if it was misdirection to take the spotlight off another player.

Jesus, if you don't think that was a briefing then I can't help you. It most definitely was.

We probably scouted him but are we actually interested, that is question?

I think so. I believe we're interested and we bid for him, however, I don't think we'll pay the requested amount.

I think we revealed information to keep the sharks (angry fans) at bay.

I don't get how this misdirection works, do journalists just stop following links and listening because we've said we're targeting someone else?

Come on. It's obvious what is going on. We are in for Pedro and then the plug is pulled at the last minute. We are telling the press we are in for Mane to which Southampton seem genuinley confused. All a smokescreen for...

Are the Daily Mail reporting that we're exploring the possibility of signing Griezmann?

Saw the speculation on twitter but can't seem to find the story.

Rather spectacularly bitter from a journalist, you'd think they would know better.

Poor comparison too, Arsenal were battered for signing no one to address clear weaknesses.

If we are in for Mane then the leak is to put pressure on Southampton. If Mane wants to leave then he will make noise to get out and join a Champions league club, it will also give us an indication if he wants to join us before we make a bid and he turns us down.

Don't worry, we're just trying to reason with Valencia to give up the no. 25 shirt so that Muller can take it. That's the only hold up on the really big transfer!
