I agree. RvP has gone and watching Wilson for the U-20's I certainly wouldn't want to have him as a number one striker. Rooney is prone to long spells of averageness. He will get goals but you can guarantee that towards the end of the season he will be in one of those spells. I also agree about our other needs.

We simply cannot rely on ay of our strikers. I hate saying that, I really do, but it's true. RvP goes missing in games, Rooney is way too inconsistent, he always gives his all, but when he is having a bit of a dodgy patch or goal drought he tends to go on a rampage and tries to be involved in everything and that is detrimental to his striking duties. Wilson looks a great prospect but he is nowhere near ready yet.

We need at least one striker. We need at least one decent midfielder. CB is top priority too, as is right back and GK if De Gea leaves. Simply put, the squad isn't strong enough to win the Premier League let alone even compete in the Champions League. The only plus is LvG knows this and we now just have to trust him (and Woody) to ensure they sort it out.

We really need to find another Aguero or van Nistelrooy or we will struggle to score goals yet again.

Kroos was a done deal under Moyes by most accounts. LvG turned him down.

Kroos was a done deal for Real Madrid, just because Moyes went to a few Munich matches doesn't mean he was signing Kroos. Regardless, Moyes was clueless with his player choices. Fellaini playing defensive midfield and Mata as a touchline-hugging winger. Some farce.

Kroos was coming and initially LVG agreed for him to come too and then changed his mind.

He has been banned as all he does is promote the Sunday World with no insight whatsoever but his tweets still end up getting posted.
Good. For me, it's up to posters sift through what's bullshit, and what isn't, but Kevin Palmer is wank.

Right winger? Why would they need another winger now that pedro has signed?

Hope we can get him but those quotes earlier today point to Milan unfortunately.

Maybe I'm just being glass half full/transfer muppet but I'd be surprised if he spoke about a move to United before the club did/it's wrapped up. Milan comments could be to throw us all off the scent.

We need both

Going into next season with Van Persie as the main striker will be an absolute failure, going into next season with Carrick as the main midfielder will be an absolute failure. In case of RVP because his legs are gone and he'll be even worse than Falcao was this year and in case of Carrick because he just can't remain fit anymore for a significant period of time.

We need both a new striker and a new midfielder there is no if or but or this one over another we need both.

We also need a centreback and rightback (and if De Gea goes a GK)
Strangely enough, I now feel that CB is the least urgent of those needs (I would have said the exact opposite in November.) I feel Smalling has become a commanding presence, and Jones looks ready to make the next step. With Rojo as capable backup, I feel much more comfortable about that area. Of course, it's still an area to pay attention to, but for me, RB is absolutely essential (I feel Valencia, for all his admirable qualities, really hinders us,) CB is a must (for the reasons you stated about Carrick,) and a striker (because I really feel Rooney is past it, as is RVP.)

As for GK, I'd be all for making De Gea stay and play out his contract. If he gets all stroppy about it, we'd have Valdes as a more than able plan B.

We most certainly need a CB. Jones isn't good enough yet, and even then Smalling and Jones won't be fit for the whole season.

Let's get it onnnnn

Newcastle Chronicle: Charlie Austin is Newcastle's priority target this summer. They're also interested in Saido Berahino and Van Ginkel.
