Although I'm not entirely fussed about losing Pedro, they pretty much came in and met the clause, and Pedro is willing to join them. They beat us.

Unless... we get someone better.

They didn't meet the clause because it was 28+2. So they negotiated but the fact is it looks like we're relying on Depay and young now for penetration. Hernandez also gives us speed - I think we're more interested in a striker now. I think LVG looked at Depay as a striker but fancies him on the wing and after last night who can blame him? I think if not Muller, probably Ibrahimovic to add a bit of arrogance back into the squad. However, Chelsea have not beaten us please. All we had or have to do is pay the money and we've not. That's because we weren't desperate enough to pay the money. We could still put an offer in now and we're not going too. They could only 'beat us' to him, if we both had offers accepted and he chose Chelsea. We never agreed a fee...

If people aren't upset at this because they think we will go for someone else then think you will have a shock....our business is done.
And you know this how?

Or is this just another of those "I told you so" posts?

It is possible that we don't sign anyone else, but none of us have any idea if we are trying to bring in anyone else.

Yeh exactly, I had a similar feeling after we'd gone a while from signing Herrera and Shaw to no one, then it all blew up in the final weeks.

Muller is far from impossible, just need to throw enough money at it

You do realize we are as rich as you are, we don't need the money, the player hasn't shown any indication he would want to leave, we have a superior squad, we don't want to sell, and we wouldn't get a new player in in time nevermind the money we would get for him?

Seriously, sometimes people at this place....ah, don't wanna say it.

You sound vulnerable and uncertain.

No it really needs to be said. Some people need to hear it from a neutral

Please don't think we all believe we have any chance. I'm not insulting our ability to sign top players, same way no one has a chance of signing Muller, Messi etc.

I don't think it makes sense for us to drop interest in Pedro even if it was for Muller. Two totally different players Muller would be a great 10 or 9 but he isn't known for pace which apparantly we need.

Unless we were planning on playing Pedro at 10 or Muller on the right which would be pointless I don't see the link at all.

If it is true that he had doubts then maybe not signing him is the right decision. Attitude is a big part of why I'm confident in Memphis succeeding and why Di Maria didn't.

To me it sounds like we are trying to save face.

Trying to save face because we didn't want to spend an extra 2m to sign him?

Doesn't make sense to em. If we wanted him, then we could have gotten him.

Have no idea what changed our mind, but I think evidently something did.

Plus LvG is not the type of person who gives a toss about saving face.

To me it sounds like we are trying to save face.

Maybe he was questioning our desire to sign him?
I mean if we weren't willing to fully meet his buyout clause, then to him, surely we weren't hugely interested in signing him. I imagine that would concern him somewhat?

After Di Maria, I think that is going to become one of the most important factors when deciding who to sign.
Good point that, it never did seem like he was excited about the move. Sounded more like he wanted to stay at Barca but because of limited playing time he just wanted to go.

London vs Manchester. London, nowadays, will always prevail as a destination.

I mean shit, i'm Northern but absolutely love it down South - won't be leaving London any time soon. And i'm pretty skint!

21 million ? Great price for a player like him.

He probably just chose Chelsea over us.

Yep - plus if you look at who we have bought in recently - Mephis, Darmian, and the 2 Sch's, then they all seem to have a genuine desire to be here and excited by the opportunity.

Well since Pedro would have likely taken Mata's spot I'm not convinced last night performance would change Louis’ mind, or that any top level manager can be influenced by 1 match against a weakened Belgium team.

You sound vulnerable and uncertain.

Maybe I just know what I am talking about and I am wondering about some muppets here.
But no, must me being uncertain about whether we would allow our top player to go 2 weeks before the end of the transfer window when we neither need the money nor anything else.
Yes, you are right.
ManUnited best!

Please don't think we all believe we have any chance. I'm not insulting our ability to sign top players, same way no one has a chance of signing Muller, Messi etc.

That's why I said sometimes and some people.
There are sane users around, probably most are, but then there are the kiddies.

We're going to end up selling DDG before the window closes now aren't we. Di Maria leaves, Ramos doesn't come, Pedro goes to Chelsea, DDG pisses off to Madrid. Genuine world class players and we fall flat on our face and look like mugs.

Was widely reported Chelsea were in for him earlier in summer.
That cooled but Pedro must has always informed them that he would sign if opportunity rose.
We shown an interest but if you remember LVG's conference from a week or so back he said 'ask Pedro it's a process'
Chelsea have started poorly and have reacted by going back in for him.
Utd drop interest because LVG realised we were never his first choice and did not want a repeat of Di Maria?

Sum it up?
