We were throwing money around for fun last summer. Genuinely believe the reports that LVG didn't fancy him, but that makes sense only if we've got someone else in mind.
Find it hard to believe that we'd haggle over such sums. It was a trait of the Glazer-Gill era at times though. If this is the reason we've been beaten by Chelsea then it's shocking on our part, unless we have someone better in mind which I don't think we do.

By the sound of it, United still wanted a further reduction on a player that was already going cheaply. Maybe a part of United's policy that they are not going to be 'bullied' any more philosophy that the media were airing a few weeks ago. An example of "cutting your own nose to spite your face".

If LVG made the decision that he didn't want Pedro, that's his decision. However, I will find it astonishing if he hasn't addressed the transparent need for a striker and a centre-back by the end of the transfer window.
Anyway, he has a three year contract. If United win nothing this year, then there will have been no tangible progress from last season.
