I'm quite critical of tweets but this Pilib de Brun sounds accurate. Even if it's a wild guess by the guy I doubt it's far off, van Gaal said he wanted his deals done before the tour and those positions sound likely. We're in for muppet heaven I hope.

"Utd want their business done before pre season starts, we're in for a very busy few weeks" - Pilib de Brun

"Expect a RB, CB, DM, ST and a GK" - Pilib de Brun

Do all that, with only DDG as the major exit, and I think we're covered. Assume the expected names leave as well

Pleb de brun

He's awful, all he does is give his opinion. He's no more in the know that you or I.

I'm not in favour of banning journos, but I'd ban Kevin Palmer from here instead of De Brun.

He's also on the Red Issue subscription forum. He has shown that sometimes he definately is privy to some info, he clearly has contacts at club.

Problem is he mixes his rants with genuine information he sometimes has. So sometimes you think his rants are genuine info but they're actually just mindless rants.

The info he puts on RI is much better than what he puts on twitter.

I could have told you that. I love the way they say "expect" as if they know who they are going to sign but can't say right now.

United definitely know who they are going to sign or at least who they expect to sign.

I still cant get rid of this gut feeling that we are all going to be disappointed again .
Again? I very much doubt anyone at the time was disappointed with last year's transfers. Di Maria, Falcao, Shaw, Rojo, Blind, Herrera - that was crazy.

Again? Last summer was very nice and everyone was ecstatic and making woodward jokes at the time. We were feeling like Real Madrid fans and especially after di Maria and Falcao signings our summer reapings were dubbed the Gaalacticos by press and fans.

The fact that a number of signings that we were hyped about had an underwhelming season is hindsight.

Let's get it onnnnn

I meant the U.S. journalist not the club. I highly doubt that the club has fully briefed him on all their targets.

Although, I doubt even the club themselves knows who they are going to sign. They probably have a first, second, third choice for each position and will be working their way down that priority list as the summer progresses. The longer it goes on it suggests that the first choices may not be available, although it must always be tough to know when to move onto the second choice, third choice etc (hence Herrera / Falcao at the end of the last summer window). The selling club will usually want to drag it out as long as possible to drive the price up.

Herrera was signed in June, so they knew they were going for him. Falcao was definitely someone who just fell in their lap last minute. No way he was in the initial plans.

Exactly right. LvG said Herrera and Shaw were both put to him when he joined the club. The deals had apparently been wrapped up in principle months before and just needed the new manager to give the green light. According to stories around at the time Moyes had actually completed 4 or 5 deals in principle and they all would have been signed had he stayed in charge. There were enough sources around last year saying Carvalho from Sporting was another agreed in principle, but people have only been guessing at the other two names.

Moyes has admitted he tried hard to sign Bale and would have gone again for him, and he admitted he was going for Fabregas (again) and Kroos. It's quite staggering not only some of the players he was after, but how much money he would have spent if he had got all his targets. It could easily have been well over £200 Million in one window.

"Not surprised at Utd being heavily linked with Schneiderlin, can definitely see that move happening." - Pilib de Brun

(Responding to a question about Schneiderlin); "yeah I've been told but not 100% on the source mate, I don't know him that well but he's very well connected." - Pilib de Brun

Basically he met some fella in a pub that played under age with terry cook once

Heh, think of last summer as the muppet summer to die for, and it was but a drop in the ocean compared to what Moyes wanted to do. Jesus....

For all the criticism Moyes gets, he knew what this team needed and the standard of players the fans want us to buy.

He totally deserves the criticisms, everyone knew what the team needed, what was asked from him was to do something about it.

And he'd have spent another 200 Million on Spurs level players...Thank God he's gone
He didn't want that level of player though did he? He wanted top players. I would actually be more worried about LvG wanting to work with that level of player than the big names.

It's really quite staggering when you look at some of the names he was linked with. Big Ed has also been quoted saying Moyes had some big names lined up.

I agree with that too, I think LvG took a while to fully understand and appreciate that fact also.

Yeah, thank goodness he has gone for sure, but I don't think he wanted Spurs level players. Mata surely isn't Spurs level is he? Herrera isn't, hopefully Shaw will come good. Fabregas, Kroos and Bale certainly aren't Spurs level. Fellaini could be put in that category but Carvalho? I'm not sure.

David Amoyal: Real Madrid's buy back clause of €30 million for Morata in summer of 2016 maybe one of best bargains out there now (he has to agree to it).

I'd rather have another CM over a ST.

We need both

Going into next season with Van Persie as the main striker will be an absolute failure, going into next season with Carrick as the main midfielder will be an absolute failure. In case of RVP because his legs are gone and he'll be even worse than Falcao was this year and in case of Carrick because he just can't remain fit anymore for a significant period of time.

We need both a new striker and a new midfielder there is no if or but or this one over another we need both.

We also need a centreback and rightback (and if De Gea goes a GK)

I agree. RvP has gone and watching Wilson for the U-20's I certainly wouldn't want to have him as a number one striker. Rooney is prone to long spells of averageness. He will get goals but you can guarantee that towards the end of the season he will be in one of those spells. I also agree about our other needs.
