I don't, like you don't know it wouldn't be and yeah he is but the debate about LVG obsession in having opposite footed defenders in the team when other top teams seem to do okay with same footed defenders is for another time.

Evans is a confidence player who plays well on a run of games. Just because he has had a few high profile mistakes doesnt make him our worst CB. I personally wanted him to move on so he could get more games but I dont rate him our worst CB

Exact same conversation happened last year with Mangala. Otamendi, who may be good, has only had one good season in La Liga. LVG and his scouts who have been to watch him in person I am sure disagree with the transfer geniuses on redcafe.

I actually read the Managala thread and it was fairly balanced apart from doom sayer himself..

Doubt it - he'd probably have been sold by now if that was the case. The 2 or 3 games before the spitting incident he was first choice as Smalling's partner and looked to be finding his form again after a very disappointing few months. McNair and Blackett barely have 15 starts between them, for me they have a lot to do to show they're even near Evans' level.

How is it interesting? Our interest has been known for quite some time. Just that there is no chance in hell we can land him.

Not that I think there's a snowball's chance of it happening, but I would happily take any money we had earmarked for Otamendi or Ramos and splash (and any extra,) on getting Muller. He'd be a huge upgrade on Rooney, and given his versatility, could probably with Rooney as well.

Yup, if we were ever in for him, he'd have been signed and joined up with the squad in preseason. It was as straightforward a transfer as can be.

They directly told Samuel Luckhurst it was on the same level as the Gaitan stuff that kept coming up, but nobody wanted to hear it.

Maybe there have been no bids for him? I would be surprised if he is still here after the window closes. He barely got a kick on the tour, he's not in Van Gaal's plans.

I agree tbf evans is very confidence based, however if he isn't good enough toget the games he needs what is the point ? Can see mcnair being before him in the pecking order just because lvg loves working with youth.

Of course mcnair has a way to go to reach the quality Evans can produce when at his best, but evans isn't at his best and hasn't been for a while.

Maybe i'm saying this because im expecting a lot from evans and nothing from mcnair but I really feel the latter had a better season (14/15). Some really solid performances against top opposition and some confidence bringing the ball forward that we didn't see from evans.
