Its an impossible transfer, sadly. Bayern cant let a player like him go, even if he wanted to. Like Rooney in 2010, you cant let a player like that leave, even if he forces it. Which I doubt Muller ever would. Bayern would be stupid to sell him for whatever was offered. It would look bad selling him and Bastian in the same window.

Would be good, though wouldnt it? Muller in the United shirt?

I someone asked me before the Spurs game what we needed I would have said a CB and a winger. (Ottamendi + Pedro) Today I'm not so sure if my answer should be the same.

So what is the best option?

Pedro + CB

Pedro + CF

CB + CF
Pedro. No CB unless it's top tier/Ramos, and similarly for a striker.

We need a player like Pedro. Gives us something more on the front line and allows Mata to play centrally - the difference for us to push for the League.

This is a headline to sell newspapers. Its definitely an attention grabber, though.

So, first Ramos wants to join Utd.
Now: Muller wants to join Utd.
Then: Ronaldo wants to join Utd.
And finally: Messi wants to join Utd.

Out of curiosity, could players potentially sue papers for printing blatant lies?

Most likely only anything defamatory like "@Cina* licks toilet seats"

*replace Cina with whatever player's name. Transfer stuff they wouldn't even bother with.
Haha guess so. I suppose it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility that persistent rumours (e.g. DDG to Madrid) could seriously affect a player and his family.

Nah. Its a waste of time, because stuff like this is such a non-story, and the web of bullshit is so vast when it comes to transfer business and its rumours and who feeds those rumours, its completely pointless. I doubt Muller or his agent or even Bayern gives much of a toss anyway. Lawsuits arent nice at the best of times, and especially not over something as pointless as this. This will be forgotten about by the time everyone has their Sunday dinner.

Definitely, if we are to challenge for the league.

It's sad that at the moment, we'd be lucky just to get Pedro.

I think we'll finish 3rd if we sign Pedro, 4th if we don't, and 1st or 2nd if we sign a top class striker along with Pedro...
Not sure. Are you one of those who are really worried about Rooney being the main striker? I think he will end up fine..

I'm happy Rooney being the main striker, but he needs supply, and I think the only way for him to get fed the ball in decent goal-scoring positions is if have pacey wingers - we have one at the moment, who may end up playing as a #10.

----------Rooney--------------------
Depay----Mata----Griezmann/Reus

Could win the league in my opinion.

Edit: But I'd most certainly rather a better striker. Rooney has lost so much over the past few years. He basically has no contribution to build up play any more. You can't play a lone striker, and that be the case,

What? Damn Barca for not agreeing to sell him sooner!
don´t you think United are being a bit stingy ? because I imagine that this is a matter of money. If they had offered 30 he would have probably already signed. If Pedro is not coming, is there some plan B?

van Gaal would want Muller at number 10.

Rooney
Memphis Müller Pedro

is probably his ideal front four

That would make sense too, but there is still not enough creativity there. That's especially the case if we play with Schneiderlin and Carrick behind them. The three are all known for goal scoring, not assisting.

From the start of the Pedro rumours part of it has been Barca supposedly saying they won't let him go until after the two cup games. Or do we forget about that so we can just go with the "we are dragging our heals/being cheap" narrative ( which is dropped whenever we pay a bigger fee and replaced by the "we always overpay " narrative)

This. Either we overpay or we drag it out. This time i hope we both drag it out and overpay so we can see both narratives combined.

"Manchester United in straightforward Transfer Shocker..."

The only thing less believeable than the Muller headline.

Not really, if reports are to be believed then City have already offered more than the release clause and he hasn't signed for them either. City may not be his first choice but after everything that has happened with Spanish players at our club this summer then its not impossible Pedro has had a change of heart and wants to stay clear of LVG, meaning stay at Barca or leave for someone other than United.

That just alienates him further..and then what if Madrid dont pay the required amounts? The last year here would be hell for him,Anyway, even desperate players dont hand in transfer requests..there is too much money to be lost.

I don't think De Gea is that concerned about money, assuming he earns 50k less per week at Real Madrid that's £26m over 10 years. He wants to return home and it's not for money or trophies.

If he wants to return home, why not sell him to another Spanish club, say Atheletico Madrid?
IMO its not about returning home.
Like Ronaldo, Bale and so many others, they want to play for Madrid (not Athletico), not Valencia, not Barca, but Real Madrid.

And with regards to transfer requests: how does El Confidential know this? Are they now in possession of a time machine?

I really dont buy into the he wants to go home thing only ..He wants to go home, but specifically he wants to go back home and join Madrid, not any other club.

If it was all about home, with him being a free agent next year, he could easily join Athletico who would love him back as he is a world class keeper, and as wages wouldnt be a concern, then he could easily join, but he doesnt want that.

Initially DDG always claimed that his intention was to go back to Athletico after his time here was up. his comments from 2013:

Speaking to AS, De Gea said: "To win at Madrid's Bernabeu in a final, I cannot ask for anything more because they also have qualified for the Champions and have made a great season. Hopefully in the future I can return, you never know. It has been and will always be my home."

Joining Madrid means that will not happen..Anyhow, I really dont think he will hand in a request, but we'll see as this saga rolls on.
