To be honest, I'd sell him now for £20m if that's what was offered. It's all very well saying we're loaded and we don't need the money but the truth is it's a matter of when, not if, we're gonna get our trousers pulled down by Madrid again. Might as well make some money out of it and buy a player like Leno who might not be available in a year's time. Even if we go for the Cech route, he's not going to be available in a year's time and he won't want to sit on the bench for another year if De Gea stays.
If true then surely Alves is leaving.
We can sign Cech and still play hardball and there are alternatives aswell for example Muslera or continue with valdes.
Message to Real and De Gea has to be a clear one, we have invested in him, we don't want to sell him and if he wants to leave it will be on our conditions and we won't be taken to the cleaners again by them ! If they don't want to be reasonable about nor should we. Real Madrid have a ton of money and they invest hundres of millions in star players every year for the most ridiculous amounts, why should we accept peanuts for one of the biggest stars in our squad ? And for De Gea we don't own the fecker a move if he tries to force it like this. He'll have to accept the outcome of this transfer battle. If Real make a decent offer or show a willigness to collaborate for signing a player that we want like Benzema he'll get his move. If Real play the dick card than so will we and he can stay for another year and if he is not happy about that he can go play with the U-21 for a season. Jezus I'am tirred of United being played like fools by these players and their managers !

He can go play back in Madrid and be with his girlfriend again that way aswell and not be an uber cnut for joining the wrong team in Madrid !

But it was also about 18-20mio euros, while now it would be closer to 30mio euros. That's why I hope to get at least 40mio euros (30mio pounds) as we will do most of our business outside England as it seems so the amount has higher value in that situation.

I want United to grow a pair when it starts to come down to negotiating transfer deals for players. You don't ever see a team like Spurs, Chelsea, Bayern, Dortmund etc get played like that. I don't see why it should be easy for them to sign our player if we don't want to sell and I don't see why De Gea would have earned a move just for the sake of him wanting to go back and be with his girlfriend. I agree with taking a harder stance with Madrid. We should look to the example that Daniel levy has set at Spurs; he makes each transfer as difficult as possible, particularly where Utd are concerned, because he doesn't want his squad to act as a glorified feeder unit for every predator that stumps up to the club with an inflated sense of entitlement.
In fact, as we haven't actually qualified for the CL, maybe, given the £40m at stake on the outcome of the pre-qualifying match, it would make financial sense to hang on to De Gea if Madrid don't grasp-the-nettle and pay us a realistic sum.
