I think people need to look past De Gea as a player and our goalkeeping situation and realise how important it is to us as a club that we have a strong image and show that we are not a club Real can bully into handing over our best players while they still have contracts with us.
It sets a precedent for the future, they're much less likely to start tapping up our players and try forcing transfers from us and will hopefully look elsewhere. They may get him next season for free but it's a dick measuring contest for Perez, he needs to show the fans that as a president he can buy whoever he wants. Being told to feck off by United really isn't good for his image. Neither is conceding players you'd rather keep, even if it's only for another season for the sake of a few million we don't need.

De Bruyne is fantastic. Scored a nice goal in the DFB Pokal, i really like the look of him. With Silva and Sterling, they would have creativity and class in abundance. You just dont know who to mark/defend, they will be firing from everywhere.
