I believed PSG were interested( since last year) but didn't think that it would come to anything. It just doesn't make sense for a top player at his age to join them from a major club, my dislike for PSG has increased 10 fold this summer

 I wanted to believe that it wasn't true but only reliable media outlet talked about it, twitter twisted some articles and they published a handful of useless articles but I felt that there was something behind it, personally I think that Al Khelaifi or Letang were the source, they love to brief the press.

For having no spine?
He played for Madrid and won trophies - just because he dosnt want to play for us, he is a spineless coward now. If anything kudos to him for not messing about and leaving now for family or whatever other reasons. its not like he played a big part last season and we will miss his contribution.. he wants to leave then good luck to him - we move on :)

Yeah, I'm sure Al Khelaifi and Letang have been briefing the press since last summer on AdM and also about Cavani, I'm convinced they want him off the books

I was joking. Done nothing but defend the guy, since the move to PSG became apparent.

We don't need twice as many points as the second place team to win the championship, we need one more point. Angel di Maria is a level above Pedro in a category where the players are rare and so far more expensive than the level below, they might only win you a few more points but that's what wins trophies.

Take Muller, he is another player that separates the champions from the challengers, he could go for £70m+, players on the level below him might sell for £20m - £30m but a player like Muller is rare.

I want Pedro and think he is a good buy at the price quoted but I also want players like Angel di Maria, it's too bad nobody is available, we have money to spend and the euro is weak.
Well of course, he's a superior player to Pedro. I just believe that in Pedro, we are acquiring someone who will suit van Gaal's 'philosophy' better, as he doesn't turn over possession as much, isn't as spontaneous than ADM and is more measured, calculated and disciplined in his approach. He really is perfect for the right-sided forward role, where Mata's lack of pace can hinder the teams.

So while di Maria is a tier above, I would rather have a team that are cohesive and perform better as a collective. Ultimately, better players win titles. I'm not escaping from that fact, but still, if the player fails to adapt or his attitude isn't good enough, he has to leave regardless of his ability. You can't really gauge how many points a player will earn for his team, as that transcends just goals and assists, but it wouldn't surprise me if Pedro contributes more to the team than ADM would have this season.

Speaking as if we've already signed Pedro here!

Poor De Gea, being forced to complete the same transfer at the end of every week..

£24.5m is a good price considering De Gea wants to go, the state of the Euro and De Gea being in his last year of contract. That's 34m euros.

wasn't the whole ramos thing done to ensure we get a player in exchange for de gea ?

Feck the price, selling de gea puts us in a very bad position for next season.

Keeping him until next year is the only option.

What if his head is already at Madrid and pulls of out challenges to avoid getting injured and things like that. His head clearly wasn't there against PSG. I'd rather just sort this out, sign a new keeper and move on rather than play a goalkeeper we know we will lose in a year's time.

Oops. He was so underwhelming for City i completely forgot about him:lol: My bad.

Edit: He's still only 5'9"

Nah he's not you've just got done by google's weird way of displaying feet and inches.

182 is basically 6 foot. Although admittedly I thought he was taller.

Don't be pessimistic about Cillessen.I think that he will be a nice surprise for many people, although I would have paid a bit more to get Oblak

Did Cillensen not play for Ajax the other day and is therefore Cup Tied?

Surely we're not going to sell him now, a week before the season starts, after all the fuss we've kicked up about not selling without getting a player in return?

That would just make us look really weak.

The surprise been that he probably can't play in the CL?

Still don't believe we'll roll over for Madrid on this, not for that price anyway.

He has the euros to play for and put in an amazing performance against barca.

He can just wait for a year and go on a free, the club cannot U-turn on de gea now and use "well if he doesn't want to be here so be it" after all the huffing and puffing that has been done during the summer. It was clear he was interested in madrid from before the window opened.

That's a lot of money for a goalkeeper, even more when he wants to leave and has 1 year left in his contract.
