Wow if true.

LVG has not learned from his mistakes if he starts season with Blind as CB.

I don't like Blind at CB either - in fact he could have given away 2 penalties already playing there. . I think though, if we get lucky with injuries we're not too bad. More so because we've strengthened the core of the team. So we shouldn't need De Gea to make as many saves as he did last season. I'd rather we focus on the creative/forward because I think that is more with our identity of you score 1 we'll score 7.

I think the Rojo will be the one who starts there.

Anyway, I don't have a big problem with our defense, I think they are good enough and that we need to improve our attacking play, especially in the final third, which actually was the main problem after we changed the formation.

Not much chance of Rojo starting the season at CB considering he is being fined two weeks' wages for missing the flight to the US and looks unlikely to play in any pre-season game.

De Bruyne would cost alot and isn't the fastest. Don't think van Gaal wants another slow 10 who can play as winger, we've already got Mata to fit in and need more speed if Di Maria goes. He wouldn't really solve our striker issue either. Cracking player though.

Do you think we will see Memphis LW and Mata as the 10 if we sign Pedro for RW?

Or we are briefing media to lower the price for Otamendi

Could be but LVG stated a number of times that the defence was fine, it was also going round in the media that his priority was the number 6 position (sorry Blind boys) and he signed two players for that position this window. I felt last season that the major failing was the defensive midfield, especially when Carrick was injured.

It's a very promising defence, at very least. All the players are pretty young, and if they can stay fit they could play together for years. Have seen time and again defenders questioned until they can establish a partnership and a regular spot.

Am a bit bemused by the Blind thing though. He's done fine, but I just can't agree that a left footer is so vital. Jones and Smalling looked our best partnership last year and we should be using every opportunity for them to play together.

Hoping this isn't another of LVG's many Blind spots.

What a bunch of spoilt little brats some people are.

The problem we had last year in defence was due to injuries and the inability to play a stable back 4, take that out of the equation and we have a strong defence.

And also getting exposed due to a lack of strong CM/CDM. These additions and also a good RB should significantly reduce pressure.

How many years have we been saying due to injuries? Nearly four?

Since Jones and Smalling got here they have been unable to stay injury free and you can't build a defence on that.

But he will probably be the one who gets the chance there.

PS
He is an idiot.

Even if we're not getting in a new CB I hope we still sell Evans.

So what is preventing those injuries from happening again ? Some of you lot are really starting to sound like arsenal fans with the injury thing.

We already know jones and smalling can't be relied on to stay fit. If thinking the defence needs an upgrade makes me spoilt then so be it. Even though we had De Gea that was still seen as our obvious point of weakness last season, especially in the beginnig.

Source for the fining?

When players can't be relied on to stay fit then they are sold. Thankfully, the club has medical data in front of them that leads them to believe that we can infact rely on them.

Smalling was available for the vast majority of our games last season, too. People like to overlook that in favour of their agenda.

If Dave stays and given the additional reinforcements in midfield, I'm not worried about leaking goals at all. Our issues are at the other end of the pitch.

Medical data? What does that even mean.

Here is data that you can rely on. Have Smalling or Jones had a injury free season since coming here? No and it has been four years.

But jones wasn't, so they were unable to form a solid centre back partnership. Something which takes time and consecutive games together. Sure you could risk it but with how competitive the league is this year I'm not one for risks.

I'm all for bringing someone in to partner smalling as I see him as the more reliable and better CB out of the two. I don't feel questioning a decision to not purchase a CB is being spoilt.

Medical tests are routinely carried out on sportspeople as a means of identifying how their bodies can cope with the physical demands that will be placed on them. Sports science has been utilised in this way for over twenty years.

Smalling was available to play in around 30 of our 38 league fixtures last season. Jones less so, but the more often they play the more likely they are to build up a resistance to regular football. Something they were robbed of under Ferguson and Moyes.

You don't stockpile shite in the event first team players get injured. There's clearly a belief inside Old Trafford that we can rely on Smalling and Jones from a fitness point of view.
