I can't really disagree with any of that. I never meant Giggs specifically as I have no idea about how he is as a coach. I don't think we should simply hire him because he is a club legend either. I am in total agreement with what you say in your last phrase really. My entire point is about what this classification of managers purely in terms of success when appointing a new man. I think big should focus on not only winning but winning with an identity which makes it necessary to look for a manager that is not only good enough but one that follows whatever identity that is. The idea of having a list of candidates made of Guardiola and Mourinho makes no sense whatsoever by this logic. I think we really have the same view but the key is in that "happy medium" and how we define it.

I'm with you, I think we both agree on maintaining a consistent football ideology with the next appointment unless it is a situation where we simply have to make an aesthetic switch due to lack of a satisfactory option in the mold we'd prefer. Hopefully we can manage this though as I imagine we are already considering who will replace LvG as I don't see him extending beyond his three years.

Pretty much this. I think Ed's should be judged more harshly on his succession plan after LvG. If we ended up with a manager like Simeone or Mourinho after LvG, questions need to be asked of the club for what exactly are they thinking and how does that make any sense in terms consistent football ideology as you put it. We'd end up being the mess that is Real Madrid with no detectable trace of any coherent strategy whatsoever.

Seriously hate Madrid. Their players keep using us to get better contracts.
Maybe because they know that we drool over them like cheerleaders? We act like we are lucky to have a world class player going by the reaction to Di Maria last year who had 6 world class months in his entire career. No wonder they know we're obsessed with them. You'd almost think they had more success than us in the recent past.

If Ramos gets his new contract out of it then Madrid have hardly "called his bluff". They've effectively given him what, in truth, he's wanted all along.

I see he's crawled from under his rock now that it's went the way he predicted, he was nowhere to be seen when it was looking dicey, dickhead.

All depends on who we want to believe. Sid Lowe and Graham Hunter still seem adamant Ramos wants out. Balague is just repeating the story in Marca, it's odd because 2 days ago Marca said Ramos was going now he's staying.

Indeed; it was clear to most people right from the beginning that this was all about a new contract from Ramos' point of view, so I fail to see how his bluff has been called here by offering him said contract.

Surely calling somebody's bluff would be agreeing to sell and see if he goes through with it
Not give him everything he wanted

Good, Juve were buying low on Draxler and would have benefited a ton if he got back to pre-injury form.

I think Guillem messed that tweet up. Or needs to be told what calling a bluff is..
I think they, like some on here think he has just been after a new contract. Now lets see what it was about, joining us or all about the contract. Trouble is if he takes the contract he has got his own way anyway as someone else said. To call his bluff they should not offer said contract.

He had an offer from PSV too, kind of glad he didn't sign as he would have been really expensive for a Dutch club. Really liked him as a player at PSV, has a good mentality aswell but I don't know how well he's recovered from his 2 major injuries. Didn't rate his performances for the NT since he came back.

Such a shame he got that badly injured he couldn't walk for a year just when he was getting more and more gametime at Barcelona. He never returned to his best after that, hope he revives his carreer at Stoke like Bojan did.

It's never as simple as that though. It's likely Ramos's preferred choice was for Madrid to offer him a new contract, one that he feels he deserves. If they were unwilling to do that, he would be open to joining United. If Madrid called his bluff, so to speak, it could have ended up in a result that neither party particularly desired.
