I dunno, he also talks about possibly extending but it does seem a bit like a veiled threat when he talks about being able to 'walk away' in the same breath as saying that we lack top class attacking talent.

Believe me, Van Gaal is not a man who will settle for securing top 3 or 4 and a run to the Champions League quarter finals - his ego is too big for that, and this is his last big job.
I didnt read it like that. And if he wont settle without winning something that's only good for us.

@FutbolSergi: Florentino Perez had a meeting with his staff today. They won't chase De Gea furthermore this summer. Want to sign him next summer on a free

I haven't seen this posted, please delete this post if it has.

Why is that Moyesque exactly?
I don't like how he makes it sound like our current bunch is not good enough to compete. Bit harsh on Young too to single him out.

I agree with LvG that we need a Hazard type of player but this interview just reminded me of Moyes saying we need to sign world class players to compete.

Good for us, even if it means no Ramos. The quality De Gea have is priceless, and we would have one more year to find the right replacement.

Keeping De Gea is good news as we can then have one more season to scout his replacement, problem is it removes the possibility of getting Ramos.

True, though I reckon keeping Dave for another year will be better for our continuity. LvG can always buy Otamendi or another defender, and still has Rojo, so we should be covered there until the ideal option presents themselves.

That's a bit Moyes-esque tbf:nervous: And the whole interview in general as well.

What's wrong with saying Ashley Young isn't on the level of Neymar, Messi or Suarez? I don't think that's an unreasonable opinion, he was asked a question and he answered it, from that answer it appears he is comparing United's current squad to the best in Europe and highlighted our lack of creativity which he thinks is important for breaking down the buses.

He is in total agreement with what I read in this forum.

Unlike Moyes he pointed out exactly where we are still lacking, he specifically mentioned creativity and vision, that's why he used Young as an example to compare him to the LW of the champions of England and Europe since those trophies we want too.

Hard to believe Marca. A bit of a coincidence this comes out after saying De Gea won't be coming.
PR stunt as to appease the fans?

Brutal comments, if true, about Young. Whilst we know he is not Neymar class, it doesn't mean that the manager should publicly out him like that. Cannot do anything good for his confidence, which is essential for attacking players.

Young has been a consistent performer, always 7 out of 10 last season and even as a squad player, it'd be good to have him confident.

Good news today,I was quite pessimistic.Besides De Gea for free next year, a good chance for Navas, however I didn´t find the information of that tweet anywhere

Ramos staying and De Gea leaving for free next year is a dreadful scenario. Yes, if that means De Gea will stay for 1 extra year, great, but Perez will get his new toy (in the scenario that De Gea will stay) next season without even putting up one pound.

Good. De Gea stays.. Don't want Otamendi either. Rather just go with what we got. Evans for Stones sounds better than Otamendi for me right now.

I dont think LVG stated something Young wouldnt have thought about it himself, no ? He praised him for having a good season and surely Young himself knows within the context of attacking match winners he is a few steps under the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi.

I support Madrid :), and we will see if De Gea is not coming...I still have hope

Shit PR stunt if he ends up leaving anyway. He's probably staying.
Maybe until they find another shiney toy to dangle in front of the Bernabeu?
They can hardly admit defeat in signing David and put their captain up for sale on the same day. How could Perez come back from that? We're nearly in August and I haven't heard of any other transfer targets they've been linked with. Is this a galatico-less summer? Maybe they're stalling? Who knows

I don't think we'll buy a CB if it's not Ramos tbh.

Can't see that happening. It's been clear we have been in for a CB since last year and with Hummels not coming it seems we have been holding on for Ramos. I expect once that is confirmed off that we will get our target C as we were told he has 3 targets for each position.

As important as any player we have signed this year and far more important than a new striker is a CB with the ability to take the ball out of defence without looking like a rabbit in the headlights when they go over the half way line.

Quite a turnaround from Marca there. Wasn't it just a few days ago they had a very different view regarding Ramos?

The crystal ball says our last 2 signings will be Pedro and either De Vrij or Stones.....At the end of the day only clowns believed we would sign either Otamendi or Ramos........Ramos has used us Ronaldo style....Stones would be an absolutely monstrous signing........the new Terry.....I think LVG should go all out to get him

Who do you think will become available first? Also who are u classing as 'game changer' material? Like a World class player?
I think Bale is the most likely to become available. Either him or a new comer to emerge from somewhere this coming season. By game changer, I don't mean world class. I mean that unique ability to receive the ball and go ahead to score or create out of nowhere. There are plenty of world class players but very few game changers in that sense. At this moment in time, I would include in that category Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Ronaldo, Bale, Robben, Agüero and Hazard. Zlatan might be in with a shout but it's difficult to judge a player in the French league. That's not to say those are the best in the world as someone like Bale could be inconsistent and contribute overall less than someone like Modric or Kroos in his team but it is that knack of doing winning matches that I am talking about here. I hope that makes sense to you :D
