I get the posts saying Herrera should be one of the 1st names on the team sheet but on the other hand he hasnt been as important to our play and midfield as Carrick.

Maybe not on his own, but with Carrick that was a great combination. Carrick with the wrong player won't be great. Carrick and Blind is phenominally slow. That is why I like the idea of Michael/Morgan and Ander as a trio.

This. Carrick was easily our most important player last year according to stats. We lost only 1 with him, 7 without him, that's alarming.

bit too early to be speaking in absolutes but herrera shouldn't have to spend time on the bench fighting for the first team, not after last season. hope that isn't the case as he only have room to build on this season.

He was basically undroppable at one point.

And that one loss was against a team which dominated us in midfield through schneiderlin

Going by Last season fellaini and young also were undroppable in most of 2015.

Herrera's input was far greater than theirs, he's the best cm we have right now imo.

where as fellaini and young can be upgraded.

Actually they didn't dominate us at all in that game :).

Bar the chances at the end for Mata we barely created anything though. I remember walking away from that game thinking they'd done a number on us in terms of stifling us completely, and deserved the three points.

I don't think their input was any less. Mourinho sacrificed a midfielder to nullify Fellaini. Young ripped apart zabaleta bellerin and many other fullbacks.

Lvg expects Herrera mata Fellaini to fight for the third CM spot if we go 4-2-3-1. No one other than Rooney Carrick de gea and maybe schneiderlin are guaranteed starters right now

What is going on? Have the tweet posters all gone on strike? There's only been two posted since midnight, that can't be right can it?

There's a storm coming, Mr Langster. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought we couldn't sign Ramos, Ronaldo and Bale.

I think you have me confused with someone else Mr Hindsight, I am a giant muppet at the best of times, especially around transfer time. I still have faith we can sign anyone we want. I think LvG and Woodward have become the masters of diversion and misinformation and have been playing most of the journalists and leading them all on a merry little dance. Actually, more like the Pied Piper and leading all the rat journo's away from the real targets.

EDIT! I do really love your user name. Quality, and such a polite chap too. Top work.

I just wanted to quote the Dark Knight Rises. I had absolutely no idea whether you were a muppet or not!

Why is he messing with the formation again. He should know that 4-3-3 is his best formation. There are times he complicates thing unnecessarily.

Well schneiderlin was winning tackles for fun in that game. They never gave us the space. They dominated us by not getting us to play freely.

Still, we were dominating as that is the way LVG want's us to play, but were unable to break them down, because we had that problem the whole season. We played freely enough, but our game in the last third was bad the whole season and has nothing to do with them (they've defended well, but we made it to easy for them, like we did to lot of other teams). Shaw couldn't do it as WB, so we didn't create anything in that department, everything changed when we have put Blind on the left side.

Plus, we had Rooney in the middle, ADM played as a SS, or something like that, of course we couldn't create a thing.

The first game they've destroyed us in the middle, but the second didn't, but we were just impotent, like most of the season.

PS
I didn't say he had a bad game, or that he didn't have a good game, but their win had nothing to do in dominating us in the middle.

Well, I was happy to see a transfer related tweet....

To expand on El Pais's point on us being less flexible, they're reporting we don't want to let him go until after the UEFA Super Cup, August 11.

I don't get why we don't sign Pedro even if Angel di Maria stays, just send Januzaj on loan. Angel di Maria, Pedro, Depay, Mata and Young competing for two flanks, Depay and Mata might also compete for the central position behind the striker if it is a 4-2-3-1.

I don't understand how Barcelona "won't sell" considering that whoever decides to buy Pedro will just activate the release clause. What exactly can Barca do when that happens?

THERE IS NO RELEASE CLAUSE FOR PEDRO!!!!

Sorry, just wish people would stop saying that

It's a variation of 4-3-3 imo. The third midfielder plays wider forward than what Fellaini or Herrera did last year, who played more along box to box lines

Edit- higher forward

His actual release clause announced by Barcelona when he signed a contract last month is €150m. I think though if he wanted a move, there may have been an oral agreement that he can go for €30m or so. This €30m also gets kicked in if he plays less than 60% of games he is available for.

Why would they care about only selling after the Super cup?

Isn't it a bit ridiculous putting a 150m euros buyout clause on somebody who cannot get in the side most of the time?

I don't know. I think Barcelona put high release clauses on pretty much every player. Vermaelen for instance I think has a clause of €80m or so.

Plus I think they prefer having pedro in the team as he is an academy product and he is a good outlet for them.

Why would they care about only selling after the Super cup?

Isn't Neymar still injured? Or is he back?

Edit- sorry he didn't play copa QF through suspension and not injury. Thought it was injury

It's been his clause since he started playing for the first team. It's not realistic but forces any interested club to negotiatiate with Barcelona for a transfer, until they agreed to let it go down to 30m this summer.

I can understand the smaller clubs wanting to get the most for their players, but Real and Barca having been milking the TV rights for years.
