I'm starting to think we won't sign a new striker. If we do sign one I think it will be late in the window, like the last 3 days of the window.

Good.

We've finally solved the problem of having two starters for one spot up front. No point in fecking it up again.

And if Rooney gets an injury and is out for 6 months, well then we're fecked... yeah thats just great

I'm fine with Rooney being up top but we surely need a good 2nd striker too? Rooney won't play every game and we'll need to change things up.

I have a feeling De Gea is going to sign a contract soon.
My feeling is that he will either leave on a free next year, or we somehow win the prem and a decent run in the champions league (better than reals) we further improve the squad and he signs a new deal here.

I don't think the quality of the team is the reason he'd want to leave... Madrid is his home, and Real Madrid is the dream for most Spanish players.

Still a better scenario than shoehorning two players who can't play together in to a starting line up like we have for the past five years. No one that the Caf would be happy with would he happy to come here and sit on the bench on the off chance that Rooney gets injured.

In truth though if Costa or Aguero were out for 6 months Chelsea and City would be in trouble as well with Falcao and Bony as the back-ups.

Based on what? Every single media saying we're in for a striker, LVG saying we need to strengthen two positions, and him teasing a striker signing?

We're absolutely, 100 % signing a striker.

Is Peter Finch reliable ?

He's on twitter saying otamedi to utd is happening soon, very sure about the source.

If Rooney gets injured we play Hernandez.

If Smalling or Jones get injured then we play with McNair or Rojo thats how a squad works, thats why you have back ups.

As Hernandez is supposedly injured, Wayne better not get injured anytime soon and if that is the best backups we have for CB we are in trouble.

Just a hunch. I really do hope we get a striker. But as a lot of people have mentioned I have no idea who we should go after.

Bony is a fecking good player, and Chelsea will replace Remy if they sell him both players who are WAAYYY better than Wilson and I would say better than Hernandez too

Hernandez will probably be fit for the start of the season, didn't LVG say he is joining the tour?

Despite the likelihood of us probably signing a defender and me just using those names as an example.

Rojo is fine as a back up and McNair is a promising defender, rarely are your back ups as good as your first choices other wise they wouldn't be back ups.

Our backups are not good enough, when it comes to strikers. Aguero/Bony Costa/Remy maybe Hernandez can find some form but I don't see him doing well at all in our team if Rooney gets injured.

As for Smalling Jones, that is not a title winning partnership IMO, can't even stay fit for long enough Jones.

By that rating Hernandez should be some championship clogger. Talk about underrating.

Btw, Hernandez was exactly 2nd choice striker in Real Madrid last season as well.

Maybe I am thinking we need one better first choice pick, so Jones is a backup, then him and Rojo would be good backups. McNair yes he has promise. Would I want him against a top PL or CL side, no I wouldn't.

That will likely be the case when we sign a defender though with McNair being 5th choice. But if 3 of our others defenders are injured then he plays regardless of the opposition.

You can't stockpile expensive high earners for worst case scenarios.

City's back up is Bony, Chelsea's is Remy or Falcao, Arsenal's is Welbeck, Spurs Soldado, Liverpool Balotelli and Real's was Hernandez.

We are fine Hernandez is as good or better than all those players.

Agreed, the problem lies in our first choice IMO.

I don't rate Hernandez for what we need in our system, even though I think hes a good player. But a long term injury to Rooney would see us fecked

I only want us to sign one CB. I'm not greedy.

Forget Arsenal, because actually Wallcott is ahead of Wellbeck in the pecking order and has a very good goalscoring record of late.
Bony also has a very good record of late (at Swansea)
Chelsea taking a gamble with Falcao
and Hernandez scoring record of late isn't that great. I hope he can get back to a decent level but we want to be challenging on all fronts and I think Hernandez is a gamble like Falcao

Take into account that Aguero and Costa records of late are better than Rooneys too then I see it as a bit of an issue. Coming off a season where we didn't have a single player with 20 goals....
