Time will tell but i think Rooney will be fine, everytime he's had a run up front he's scored goals.

He's criminally underrated by many of our fans.
Wayne is fine once he gets going. As long as he is up and running as soon as the season starts that will be great. What does worry me is if he has one of his slumps is that we have someone who can pick up the slack. Wayne contributes even when he isn't scoring, but the others will need to score goals as well.We cannot just rely on Wayne.

He'll score goals but there is more to it when it comes to being a top striker in a team with title aspirations, I don't think it's underrating him to say that at this point he's a level below the best strikers.

Forget Arsenal, because actually Wallcott is ahead of Wellbeck in the pecking order and has a very good goalscoring record of late.
Bony also has a very good record of late (at Swansea)
Chelsea taking a gamble with Falcao
and Hernandez scoring record of late isn't that great. I hope he can get back to a decent level but we want to be challenging on all fronts and I think Hernandez is a gamble like Falcao

Take into account that Aguero and Costa records of late are better than Rooneys too then I see it as a bit of an issue. Coming off a season where we didn't have a single player with 20 goals....

Hernandez's record is good, roughly 1 goal every 3 appearances, considering many of those are 20-30 min appearances off the bench it's probably a very good goals to minutes conversion rate.

Costa has had 18 months at hiscurrent level and spent a lot of last season injured, Aguero is injury prone too. Rooney is fairly solid and rarely misses many games and has had to play a large chunk of the last 2 seasons out of position. Play either Costa or Aguero in midfield for extended periods see how well they do.

RVP was injured most of last season, Falcao was having a nightmare and Rooney as mentioned was mostly in midfield no surprise none of our players broke the 20 goal mark.

I agree on last season, I just think its a risk, and when we want to challenge on all fronts, one not worth taking.
I'd rather we spent a few quid on a backup, I'm not exactly impressed with Wilson in the first team either and I think he should go on loan. (I've seen him for the U21s and know he isa fantastic talent)

Every decision on our squad is a risk to a certain extent.

We might still sign another striker and keep Hernandez, but it would hardly be a disaster to go into the season with Rooney, Hernandez and Wilson as our options.

Fair bit from Steve Bates there:

Bale still on our radar,
Otamendi still a target,
Evans to leave if Otamendi arrives,
Rafael a target for Galatasary.

Can believe all of them but obviously the first one unlikely to happen.

Might be worth pointing out I don't think Bates has been with the squad in America but has been covering the Barclays Asia Trophy I believe. So might not have been close to the word from the camp this past week.

Just gets worse for Villa fans.

I'm not sure really. He is capable of getting 10-15 goals per season. Usually in his first season at a new club he's good. Then he shows a bit of revival under a new manager.

Not a chance we will get Bale unless hes looking to get out of madrid, which I can't see.

Woody still has stars in his eyes. I'm confident our man will buy some player who has a black card on FIFA. Schweinsteiger, Darmian, Schneiderlin and Memphis seemed way to straight forward for Woody's liking. If we arent in the final week of August and handing over 10s of millions of pounds to someone, its must not a transfer window.

Yes, but there are Rooney on his good days and Rooney on his bad days. And they are so far apart it's scary.

Well thats true but the same can be said of many top players. We could sign a flavour of the month striker and run into the same problem.

Will end career as United and England's top scorer and he's a master of none?
What striker matches him throughout the last decade? It's a very small list

It seems that Bale doesn't want to leave and Madrid don't want to sell. This is just impossible.

Oh yeah he was supposed to be a PSG player by this weekend wasn't he. Like DDG was going to be a Madrid player by a few weeks ago. It's like they just make this stuff up.

Sounds an 'excuse' from PSG side in case they don't get di Maria and make sure supporters don't get angry. If they genuinely believed that they could have him for 40M odd pounds, then they were fooling themselves.

What's there to be angry about? He's our player and we value him at a certain amount. If you can't pay that amount then you can sod off.

And we are actually asking for less than we paid last year, the Euro is in their favor. In fact we are asking for just a bit over what they paid for Luiz last summer.
