You have to wonder why we didn't move for Vidal if he ends up going to Bayern for €30m. I'm absolutely chuffed we've got Schweinsteiger, but we're reportedly paying him €10m in wages and paid Bayern £14m for him. For only c£7m more we could've just gone for Vidal, plus his wages would be €3.5m less. He's almost 3 years younger too.

Maybe he didn't want to come here

So Benteke is on but we aren't interested, good to know all the bases are covered. I think Villa are trying to mush Liverpool along to make a bid.

Gaitan will end up at Spurs I reckon.

Lewandowski would be aces!

Gaitan to Chelsea if they sell Cuadrado perhaps?

The reporter from SKY Sports news who is travelling with United on tour has just said the press conference has been pushed back by an hour. He also said United definitely aren't interested in Benteke, but the names that keep popping up are Cavani and Lewandowski. Funny he didn't mention a CB at all.

Aubameyang was strongly linked with Arsenal last month as well, in a £27m deal iirc. I think there's probably something to it.

There is something to it. A recent 50 Mil. € bid to be exact. Was shot down immediatly by us, though.

Maybe just covering the Benteke situation.

Well yeah, I was going to say something about that but then I thought there's no reason why he wouldn't want to assuming we can offer him his wages, CL football and training with some of the best coaches and players in the league. I doubt if we agreed a fee with Juve Vidal would straight up turn us down.

I just don't see Lewandowski happening after we already had Schweinsteiger from them. I'm surprised this keeps resurfacing.

Me neither, but it keeps the muppet dream alive, I suppose. It's been well reported he doesn't get on with Pep though, so maybe it could be possible.

I'm more than happy with our midfield. Would rather have Bastian and Morgan than Vidal.

Talksport are saying that Benteke is option 2 and that we are still more interested in Cavani, using Di Maria as bait.

That does not make me feel any better mate! It's like a choice between drowning and being thrown off a mountain.

I could see that, he would probably be content to be a squad player as he has no international place to worry about like Cuadrado.

Like you'd reject a 50 million bid for that guy

If by "that guy" you mean by far the best performer in a completely disfunctional team (which is poison for a striker) and the difference maker between relegation batte and the international places last season, a guy who went through a tremendous development jump in that time, then yes.

The source for that bid is by the way Freddie Röckenhaus, the most reliable journalist in terms of Dortmund. If that guy states concrete numbers, he is guaranteed to be backed up by first grade sources inside the club.

Aubameyang has been our life insurance for quite a while now and there is no indication (his current early form is stellar) that he won´t continue to be a top performer of the squad.

And to be completely honest, in a world where a good offensive allrounder like Firmino is worth 40 Mil. €, Aubameyang in his current contract situation is worth more than 50.

Yes. Bastian represents a coup for the club and he wanted to play for United. Vidal, would probably have got anywhere that paid the most.

I had no idea he improved so much, all I remember is the season before last he was seen as a liability (but maybe I'm wrong on that too?), and I figured he struggled along with the rest of the team this past season.

Same. Even leaving aside questions about Vidal's level and the reliability of his fitness after such a severe injury, he's no longer the position we're looking for. He'd compete primarily with Herrera, which is the one thing we really don't want in midfield.

While I tend to agree that he is better than McNair and Blackett, there are still Jones, Smalling, Rojo and possible Otamendi/Ramos. Where is the place for him?
That's only 4 centre backs though. With our injury record would be nice to have another centre back. He can also play right back

Well there is no way in hell he will be sold for 30 million. Di Marzio is reporting that Bayern have bid 40 while Juve want 45 which I think represents a pretty big risk for the current Vidal.

The Vidal boat has sailed & i'm delighted that we have Morgan & Bastian instead. We've a top-class midfield now & it's an absolutely thrilling prospect for the season ahead..
