It seems that only you and me rate Cillessen at this forum. He wouldn't be my top choice but I would be reasonably happy with him.
Still think that we'll keep David for an another season though.

Obviously everyone would want to keep Dave, but if he goes I would be content with Cillessen. There are some however who won't be satisfied unless we sign Neuer or Courtois, which is unrealistic.
Or Oblak.
I don't think he would be the first choice of many but I am sure he's more than capable.
People focus on him being taken off for penalties as a big negative instead of the fact he kept an established and pretty handy Premier League keeper in Krul on the bench in the first place.
At the moment Cillessen is better than Oblak IMO. Oblak is a few years younger though, and already as experienced as Cillessen.
Good decision from Delph to stay, but those saying it would have hindered his Euro chances going to City I doubt it. Dim Roy would have taken him regardless of playing or not especially with our depleted options in midfield.
Is he really that good? He was brilliant against Madrid in one of the CL or La Liga games (Can't remember which one) I saw last season. Though, seems like he was only there because the number 1 keeper was injured. Did he take his place by the end of the season?
Lloris, Leno or Oblak aren't unrealistic though, and would be much better than Cillessen!
This. You could argue Lloris would end up costing more than De Gea which is a fair point. But Leno and Oblak are two examples of better, gettable options.

Even though it's a shite answer. He's actually spot on about Woodward. Last summer you could see how bad he wanted to get us not back to where we were, but even past that. He's hungry to prove he's even better than Gill. I think he has a few more tricks up his sleave too.
He could be the best of De Gea, Neuer, Schmeichel, Kahn and the rest of the best in history and i still wouldn't want him if he has anything to do with Mendes.
I have a feeling Cillessen is a good old fashion smoke screen. We probably have an agreement in principle for Lloris if De gea goes. Sort of like how we used coleman as a distraction
From my time working with Paddy Crerand on MUTV, I wouldn't be too surprised if he knew a few juicy transfers that are in the pipelines. Especially on the pre-season tour, he spends a lot of time on the plane with the squad and management and occasionally MUTV staff. I would imagine any rumors flying around the dressing room, h';d know about them.

Signing a player with obvious talent over a player who has obvious flaws isn't "shiny new toy syndrome". I don't think Cillessen is that bad, but I wouldn't feel like I could rely on him unless he had some sort of De Gea transformation.
