The coach can teach the player how to function effectively in the team but the player must want to learn and have the discipline to work hard not only in training but also on the pitch.

I think Nani didn't have that discipline or hunger to work hard and become better or alteast more effective. He has always looked uninterrested and a bit cocky about his own quality. I think it is the primary reason why it didn't work out for him and why LVG does not want to take him on like he did with Young and Fellaini (both look far more interrested and hungry than Nani ever did).

Ashame because the lad has real talent but if you can't combine with great work ethic than it never works out on the highest level.
Everyone says about Nani and consistency. To me his personality is too brittle. Not tough enough to be a United player.

I see. Aren't Marseille well-liked in France though? I thought it's mostly PSG fans who hate them with a passion.

They are the most supported club with Saint-Etienne but they are also probably the most disliked club. The rivalry with PSG is fake, their real historical rivals are Bordeaux, Monaco and Saint-Etienne.

He's stating the obvious. This is all our own fault. We hand contracts and big wages out like confetti. Also I like him for calling out Duncan Castles over the Giggs interview.

Ok chief, but evra's post above says it all for me about certain Chelsea transfers; I'm not at all convinced that recent transfers by them should be used as a shining example of the club's collective genius & our ineptitude.

You mean they are dodgy. Very likely. Also, going off tangent a bit, does Liverpools scout live in Southampton?

@NoArroJusBeta

I don't agree with you guys. Nani went from a 22/23 year old capable of ripping through the 2010 CL finalists (a real power house German club) to what he is now. You don't get to where he did, at his age, without being capable of playing Man United or lack of hard work. Something happened to him and he wasn't able to get past it. Whether it was the Jaime Carragher tackle or losing Sir Alex or just constant injuries, we truly don't know. One thing for sure is handing him a 5 year contract at 100k a week (?) wasn't a particularly good move, as he had shown nothing, in the recent past, to deserve such a contract. Darn you Moyes!

This fella was linked with a host of clubs, is he really that good? What position does he play?

I think his career with us and the comparisons with Ronaldo weighed him down a bit. As though he tried to do too much sometimes and when things didn't come off, when they would for Ronaldo, knocked his confidence.

Journos have officially ran out of all leads. Back to linking us with every Dutch player again

Cillissen, Vlaar, De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind, De Jong, Janmaat, Sneijder, Robben, Kongolo, Kuyt, Clasie, Depay, Krul.

Those are, as far as I recall, the dutch players a the World Cup we were linked with. Just the 14 out of 22 (not including RVP), of which we signed 2. Superb journalism.

He plays in center midfield, he is a good powerful and skilled midfielder, he can be a real threat around the box but he has a lot of developing to do before pretending to play for a big club. Porto is a club around his level.

Definitely played a part. The OT crowd got on his back, quite a few times, too.

Wijnaldum and Huntelaar too at various points I think.

Liverpool getting all their deals done early, the way it should be done.

Let's judge based on how the signings do rather than the date they sign, eh?

As Brendan might say, the owners are giving him enough rope with which to shoot himself.

Yeah but, personally, I wouldn't even consider swapping the deals they have done for depay. As long as we get the job done before the deadline we will be fine.

They have to do this so that their fans don't riot when they finally sell Sterling.

It's vital we sign one or two "key" players before the start of pre-season, otherwise we'll find ourselves in a similar position to what we did, last season.

Liverpool have done well to sign some decent players as soon as possible. They're obviously keen on moving forwards and we shouldn't be so dismissive of them, as some of those players, specifically Clyne and Firmino, would have improved us quite a bit, too.

I wouldn't be worried, though. We still have two or so weeks till we'll be flying off to USA, which is a lot of time to sign players. However, if we don't, well lets not go there...

Mmm...Seems we were genuinely interested. I recall Delaney mentioning it too.

It's come it out in a debate between Honigstein and Sport Witness that these are actual new quotes which the @cfbayern (Christian Falk) got from Muller himself and Bayern. Our offer is apparently still on the table.
