Transfer Tweets - Summer 2015 | Stop Spamming - Discussion Should Relate to Tweets

Wow Yohan cabaye isn't going to be pleased about that

I think social media like Twitter and its likes have made the whole experience of Transfer window worse than it possibly can be..

There was a time when I just used to visit United official website or BBC Sport and find out who we signed..

In pre YouTube days, I barely had access to United games and maybe champions league.. So any wish list was short and me and my mates didn't have chance to dissect a player or argue potential signings before they were announced.. So any United signing was a welcome one and didn't have split opinions on who would have been better and stuff..

Nowadays we have 10 different opinions on a said player and there are always going to be people who dont like some of our deals.. Not saying we didn't have it before, but it was post signing than predisposed mindset of nowadays..

We also have these trolls who want their 15 minutes of fame and the access of several players across globe have us all yearning for our clubs to sign some of our favorites.. It is not a bad thing, but does make the process of waiting for the signings more tricky..

We want it now and we want exactly the players we have in our minds.. And it doesn't help when we are desperate and that is being taken advantage by Twitter no marks and even journalist who want their 15 mins of fame or try to look more credible.. So they throw 50 things on the wall and get one story stick and somehow get to claim "I told you so" and try to look credible, forgetting their success rate was 1 in 50.. In my work, I would be fired with that success rate..

After years and years of transfer windows and having some great moments of joy and absolute heartbreak on losing out on what was supposed to be "sure things", I just take the window as an opportunity to look forward to new singings, whomever it may be.

I just hope that we sign the players we need to be competitive and hope the players do us proud by giving their best for us.. I would cheer for them as long as they are wearing that United jersey and play for us..

That's just one way to look at it

Technology isn't exactly bad. We have more access to worldwide news because of which we know even if it is bs. Say if a paper says that we are looking to buy a South American unknown player, now we can know who it is and we can get instant opinions from the fans of that club where this player plays and whether the media reporting it actually knows stuff. I have learnt the reliability levels of papers of countries I have no relation to(chile Turkey and all) :p

There are obviously side effects like those trolls and itks like indykaila and all who act as if they are golf buddies with Mendes. That's the case with any technology. YouTube for instance has made it easier to access music and movie trailers among other which otherwise we would have seen only in TV. But you also find people who do stupid stuff to go viral.

Overall the good outweigh the bad. Maybe I feel that because I had social media most of my life :p. And I don't believe that we would not support any player who plays for United however bad they are. Critiscize maybe but not hate any player I'm sure.

Seems a deliberate leak by Van Gaal's people to bring Ramos and Schneiderlin price down.

That's going to render useless. I don't think Madrid would care that we are looking at de vrij. It's like Madrid expecting us to reduce the price of DDG because Madrid are looking at Leno.

Come on guys, I know discussion is allowed but long drawn out posts on "transfers in the modern age of social media"?

Also welcome @prath92

@DanishFooty: Copenhagen manager Ståle Solbakken tells B.T that no clubs have inquired for Swedish left-back Ludwig Augustinsson. Only rumours. #lfc

Hence it's not actually worse in the end than what you make of it.

As you have quoted.. I have used the word "Possibly" and "Can".. It was more about social media like twitter making the experience worse as some choose to react after every good or bad rumor and how some for their own 15 seconds of fame, take advantage of that..

I dont have a problem with Transfer Windows.. It is the trolls and lazy journalist I have a problem with..

It's VI, who's supposedly reliable according to Dutch friends here?

A little bit, but I would not say super reliable. They do a lot of Gossip and Rumour articles. Clasie is a good player and definitely ready for a step up, but I can't see him come here. He's not a starter for the national squad either. If that is the right choice is an whole different discussion.

Situation is completely different between DDG and Ramos though. If Real think looking at Leno would drive the price of DDG down its frutile as we're no where in desperate situation like Real are where an unhappy player has requested a transfer because they don't want to offer the big money that he wants. With DDG we don't have all that problem as he hasn't kicked up a fuss, either Real pay the money we're asking or we will happily keep him for a year and sell him later as his performance on the pitch are far more worth then accepting low balled offer from Real.

He's ready to step up to Southampton level, Morgan is ready to step up to ours. If we signed him and De Vrij instead of our original targets we would lose all credibility.

Who the heck is this guy?!

125 followers, doesn't use a pic of Fer or Sevilla or anything credible. There's not even a link to an article

I have more followers ffs
What the hell is this.
@prarek a bit of quality control wouldn't go amiss
Sorry about that. Should have used a different tweet but the rumour is legit. There were plenty on the same and i just picked one. My bad. Here's a more credible source.

Supposed to be a big talent, right? Enough talents at chelsea already.
Yeah rated very highly. Hope he goes to a club that actually plans to develop him and use him instead of sending him out on a loan every year.

I agree with you.. As you have summarized the benefits of technology and in the overall context, good of technology outweighs the bad..

But social media during the window has made the process tiring to waddle out the nonsense from the real deal and it doesn't take much to float absolute false rumors as sure shot as Paper A from Country X makes up a rumor, Paper B from Country Y carries the rumor with Paper A as source, now Journalist M picks up the rumor from one of the papers and runs to Channel Z claiming "His Sources" have informed how a said player has agreed to join Club T..

Now Paper A and B and C quotes the journo as examples of how now "Multiple sources" are confirming on Club T is "Preparing a bid", " Closing in on a bid" for a said player..

This then gets picked up by lazy journos who now posts this on Twitter and every summer some Twitter No Mark tries to make it big for 5 minutes..

It then trickles down here, where in our desperation for some news, we have this tendency of believing a story if it is bad news and take it as must be true and rejecting a story where it claims good news of about to sign a player.. Some have it vice versa.. And it is constant, every day till the window ends..

I am all for technology.. But it is tiring to keep up with these shenanigans.. Still, here I am at the Caf, checking the twitter transfer thread, in hopes of finding that confirmation tweet from the club about signing that next player.. :)

How will the Dutch media know who we will be after if Ramos to us does not materialize? Seems like a wild speculation because of the nationality.
just like how other media knows. "sources close to the story"

We are always linked with some average dutch player or two. People meltdown about it on here before it turns out the papers were just creating a filler article based on nothing but LVG's nationality.

Nah, playing in The Championship is much bigger a lure.

I don't mind De Vrij, I wanted him last year, but going from Ramos, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin to de Vrij and Clasie would be like being in the market for a Mercedes E-Class and ending up with used Renault Laguna.

True. And there's a notion LVG buys or will buy only Dutch players here too, really strong one. Although he bought only 2 and one of them has been a very good buy and the other has big potential.

Yeah, Arda being the Iniesta replacement & Pogba the Rakitic? (As harsh as that would be to Ivan). But yeah, it's football, anything can happen. Arda could end up on the bench, or as cover for the wings (if Pedro leaves).

Just think it's a bit overkill. Read interesting comments from Bartomeu saying the coach has identified a midfielder which they're after but he can't name yet (comments along those lines). Obviously comments hot on the heels of Laporta saying if he's elected as president, he'll bring Pigba with him. So Arda could well be the player Bartomeu was referring to.

Maybe @Mitchell Nicholas @Brown Toothpick could shed some light.

Bartomeu is being a piece of shit for doing this atm. Interim board shouldn't make any footballing decisions until the elections are over with. Bart referring to them as" continuing the work we agreed on in April" is just blatantly bizarre. Another reason why I just want him out.

Radio Catlunya, a highly reliable source, are saying its highly advance and he may sign this week. I honestly don't know how to think of this deal as he is not on top of our priorities. We already have Rafinha, with Denis Suarez on loan, and this will definitely halt his progress. I highly rate Rafinha and would love for this upcoming season to be his breakthrough one. Turan is a great player on his own, will add an instant effect to the team, but for his reported price it seems too much. Unless there is a pre-agreement with Pedro to leave in winter, for which Arda will be a more understandable transfer. Even then, for that price, he will most likely warm the bench for a while.

Journos have officially ran out of all leads. Back to linking us with every Dutch player again
Aye. For all the links we've only signed one Dutch player so far and he was the only available defensive midfielder we could have got last Summer. Turned out to be a very good buy too.

AS say De Gea was convinced Man United would negotiate his transfer, he's not looking forward to returning to training on Monday.

 sounds like a big pussy indeed. Not sure he has the bottle to hand in a transfer request. Probably works in our favour.

If rumours are anything to go by, it's his preferred destination who are dragging out his big move given their derisory offer(s).

So far, they've offered less than we paid and right now even with one year left on his contract, his stock is as high as any goalkeeper in the world.
