Where in my post do I say its fine? Also we overpaid for RVP and everyone knows it.
Kroos with 1 year left on his contract was £20m

Anyway my point in relation to the DDG valuation was that £20m+DDG for Ramos (one of the best CBs around) seems like a decent deal
Considering people were happy to spunk £35m+ on Hummels (who isn't as good) or Ottamendi (who isn't as proven)

If the Ramos thing is even remotely possible it will be because he wants to leave Madrid.

The way I see it, you have a 24 year old world class keeper with one year left on his contract who wants to leave his club for another. You then have a 29 year old world class* centre back with 2 years left on his contract who wants to leave his club and go the other way.

That 5 years age difference should at the very least, compensate for the extra year under contract. I simply don't believe that Ramos is worth De Gea and cash. I get the feeling that if the circumstances were swapped, we'd be talking about United paying Ramos and cash for De Gea and it bugs the hell out of me.

I know there's now an automated twitter thread but can we at least try to keep the off topic multi page discussions to their relevant thread?
This Ramos talk doesn't have to be here

Tweets :D But its only Reina to Napoli :(

And he got sent off in one of them.

Yeah, I read an interview of his a couple of weeks ago where he said how tough it was for him last season with so little playing time etc etc. One has to wonder what the feck was he expecting moving to Manuel Neuer's club.

I think this is all just Woodward messing with Real because they will take De Gea, he will throw money at every Real Player and see if something sticks

Starting to get annoyed now, I'm hoping we are concluding some business soon. Otamendi, Fabinho and Schneiderlin before the tour starts would be perfect and doable. (if our interest is genuine in those players of course)

Heard on croatian RTL channel United is interested in Modrić for DDG. Complete bollocks (cause is RTL) probably and no chance in hell that deal would go through.

The meltdown on caf if we pay that much would be remarkable considering their are some people who think that Real should be paying us in this deal

We are gradually working through their entire squad, what's worrying is that we would be pretty happy with the majority of their squad, whereas they are only interested in De Gea from ours.

We have a lot of catching up to do...

Seems like all a bunch of nonsense with both sides using the press to antagonize each other, all over the inevitable DDG move. Next up, Woody briefs the English press about some ridiculous BLOCKBUSTER counteroffer - 40m + DDG for Ronaldo or something.

In the end, Real will pay us more than they've already offered for DDG, Ramos will get his new contract, and the papers will get their clicks. The only ones losing out will be us idiot muppets.

I think papers are making up most of it tbh.

His point still stands though. Almost every player from Real Madrid's first eleven would improve us. How many of our players would improve them? Can't think of anyone except De Gea.

We really have a lot of catching up to do if we want to establish ourselves as a major force in Europe again.

Mata would be a tidy player for them and they were a better team last year with Di Maria in the side.

Yeah that part is true. We're in a bad situation right now and the fact most of their squad would come handy is a bit depressive but we made a 1st step to going back on track this season and I expect us to make further steps back to the top.

Yeah, I didn't include Di Maria because of his poor displays for us last season. On the top of his game he'd improve every team in the world, no doubt about it.

I don't think Mata would improve Real Madrid, he'd probably be a bench option.

Why do people like yourself never learn? You mean like Di Maria improved us by being second fiddle to Ashley bleeding Young? What did people say about Falcao remind me? Even Özil at Arsenal cannot be considered a significant upgrade. If any of the English clubs last summer invested in Bernat, Mathieu, Rakitic, we would all be hearing the same nonsense about how they're smart buys but "would they get to Barcelona and Bayern's first 11?". The best teams buy well but also develop well, they work on establishing a system where the players complement it very well in addition to buying top quality. You know, a bit like under Fergie? This reasoning when people just look at x team, judge the performance of their players without considering the context, longevity, and continuity of the system at place in those clubs and just assume that we should simply buy whatever player who is viewed to be of the same quality and that this somehow will magically shoot us back up the top of the pile is truly absurd. We need to invest of course but we can't just buy a first 11 of players who have established themselves somewhere else and expect it to just work out like a video game.

I must be the only one who thinks that those figures are probably about right! As brilliant as De gea is, a goalkeeper who wants out, in the final year of his contract, is never going to fetch mutch more than 20m, 25m tops. And Ramos, one of then best centre backs in the world, is surely going to be valued at around 45m, despite being 29. So we've got to be looking at about 25m plus De Dea, which is pretty much 40m Euros.
