Very good question, have City bought any players and progressed them, in the way we did with Ronaldo ?

We've progressed plenty of players. Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Silva, Toure, Aguero all developed well at City. It's a bit misleading to use Ronaldo as an example, sure United helped progress him as well as anyone else could have, but someone with that talent was always going to reach the heights he has done. Same with the likes of Silva and Aguero.

That young Brazilian lad Rodrigo was mentioned a few months ago and someone posted a decent muppet vid of him.

I am wary of this attempt to get Benzema, it smells like the Fabregas pursuit all over again, just wasting our time.

Very easy to say that in retrospect. No one thought he'd reach the levels he has when he first arrived here and even a year into his United career. How many players are highly rated and fail to make the grade? United and Fergie were massive in making Ronny what he was and what he's become.

That's true. Even have to factor in he is leaving Marseille and the lifestyle, for Swansea.
Mental to me. How much would he have made at Roma? Thousands and thousands a week. And then he wouldn't have to live in Swansea. I know I'm being naive but after a point the extra money is just extra to so much anyway...and you factor in where you'd be living and what you'd be playing for, it's kind of disappointing to think money is number 1 in all that.

Perhaps, it's impossible to say how much of an impact United had on Ronaldo's development. No denying there was a significant positive influence but I still think with a player of his mindset and quality that it was only a matter of time before he would have established himself as one of the world's best players.

At the age of 20 he only managed one appearance for the first team.

This journalism shit might be the easiest job in the world...

Where did you get your information from?
I've not followed Brazilian football VERY close this season, but i've seen enough to know that he's played close to 30 games for Internacional this season, fairly certain he's even played close to 20 in 2015 alone.

MARCA said today that De Gea took on Mendes specifically to plan for future Real Madrid move, saying it's been his plan for years.
El Confidencial said the same over a year ago, claiming the De Gea family had got assurances from Mendes that he'd end up at Madrid.

son of a bitch...!

Seriously though, that's confidence in your ability.

Am I bitter for hoping the Atletico link comes back to bite him in the arse one day? Yes.
Do I care? No.

Imagine this, a young Manchester born lad, supports United, starts his career off here and looks very promising. Wins a couple of trophies and gets sold for big money to a big team.

Becomes one of the best in the world, wins a few things over there and then actively angles for a move to City.

It doesn't sit right with me.

Ronaldo, Ruud and Beckham all went with my well wishes. Heinze angled for Liverpool so I couldn't care less about him. De Gea, I don't know. It doesn't feel right. I almost think I'll be happy if he underachieves there and I'm not usually that way about players who leave.

If they could make him more unpopular with United and Atletico fans it would take some doing.

Marca shit stirring. Hitting two birds (United fans & Atletico fans) with one stone

He's really flourished in 2015, most Internacional fans that i've heard talk about him is starting to consider him to be one of their best and most important players (That's at the strongest Copa Libertadores team right now).
He's a strong defensive-ish midfielder, good at tackling and intercepting the ball, reads the game well the times i've seen him. My biggest worry has been his passing at times, mind i mostly saw him in the beginning of 2015 and the first few games of his, where he seemed to get caught off guard a few times, making sloppy passes into spaces that was occupied by opponents or generally putting his own teammates in tough situations.
From what i've heard that is a thing of the past based on his 'late' 2015 form, but haven't seen him play for a fair few months now, so can't comment on that myself.

That is typical Marca bullshit IMO.

Trying to show Madrid are the greatest after frankly, quite an embarrasing season for them.

Why, wiki page of course. The source of all modern day knowledge.

We're going to be competing at the very top again, and soon. Money is not an issue for us, we can pay as much as Madrid can. That is why it is very hard to take when our players want to leave for them, mostly because they have marketed their image very well, an image which shows that playing for Madrid is an honor in itself. Will this ever change?

I feel so used...

He played 8 games for them last season.

Edit: 2 league games, 6 cup games.

Feck off Madrid. I hope Woody grows a pair & tell them if there's no Benzema/Varane, there's no deal.

DDG is also a twat if he doesn't want to sign an extension - even just to ensure we get a good fee for him.

Never thought I'd start "hating" on DDG, but his silence in this entire saga is a bit of a cnutish move IMO & if those reports are true, him "leading" us along in his contract negotiations (see if we finish top 4) only to still not sign, then he's a twat. He could have signed with a release clause to ensure we get a good fee. Now you can't help but think they'll get him for a bargain.

The most optimistic of our fans would obviously still hope he's waiting until we've secured qualification but I doubt it.

I will give you Hart, but the rest were pretty much the finished article when they arrived at City.
