Annoyingly Pogba’s ability to progress the ball would be ideal in our setup
Said this about a month ago. As a left 10 in this setup a prime Pogba with little defensive duties would be perfect in that role. Surely he's diminished now after all this time out and he really really annoys me but for free for a season or two if he can hack it while we are in limbo might be smart business. This team sure could use some swagger and someone who can hold up the ball

Maybe they won't. He was linked with us previously and has spoke of wanting to come here.

What an upgrade on Hojlund and Zirkzee.

If there's one position where a big spend is justified, it's a striker.

Oshimen
Fernandes Amad
Dorgu Ugarte CM Quenda
LCB
De Ligt Yoro
Onana

It's possible with 4 signings to have a good starting 11. Also a bench that contains Martinez, Maguire, Mazraoui, Dalot, Mainoo, Kone, Garnacho, Hojlund and Zirkzee. That's good enough to be challenging for Europe atleast.
That definitely needs a 5th at least. Onana is just not consistent enough at the basics to be part of a 'good' starting XI. We definitely need a keeper upgrade as well as all the areas you highlight.

Prime pogba chucked in that role will the match winner in this team. Heck, even united pogba would have been.

That we are desperate enough to even consider getting that player back speaks volumes, he should never be anywhere near this club again, he was poison as a kid, poison as a senior, terrible player for many reasons and so over rated, I would seriously consider not watching Utd for the duration of any return, cannot stand him

I'm not sure if I can trust mufcMPB's Tweet here. The journalist's info hasn't been put anywhere in his and Sports Digitale's Twitter accounts. There's also nothing on their YouTube and Instagram accounts. Sports Digitale is exclusively online, so there'd be a mention somewhere about Osimhen if this was reported. As it stands, there's nothing new about him, so I'm inclined to think that this is the usual mufcMPB BS that has gotten him banned on the Caf.

Yeah they shouldn't have jumped gun, unfortunately that's what aggregator accounts do best

Here we go again. Trying to recreate the managers former team. That always works.
Didn't we sign Bryan Robson from Ron Atkinson's former team West Brom? That worked well.

I think signing former players for EtH was more down to the sad dysfunction in our recruitment process at the time.

I think the Sporting players that we're interested in were already on the radar of the new recruitment team.

Whilst we have just been burnt by ETH there is no reason to ignore players who have the right profile and price just because they have previously played for the current manager.

Ugarte played for Amorim, he is doing ok, Hjulmund, Ignacio, Gyokeres, Quenda are all very good options, big thing is the price, and most importantly that the new recruitment team fully assess the players outside of the view of the manager and finally comparison to other options.

Also have to bear in mind that whilst Utd will always have a draw, if we finish 15th and out of Europe next season then not every player will be open to coming here, players like those mentioned might be willing to come and play for Amorim when otherwise they would be looking for European football, or if they did come a loaded pay package.

Don't you dare come in here and talk sense!

We also signed Jim Leighton and Ralph Milne for Fergie

I do recall when ETH was coming/announced, the one thing all the Ajax fans had said his weak spot was talent spotting or having the ability to evaluate players. This was borne out massively with the shite we’ve been left with. Hopefully Rubin doesn’t have the same weakness AND we now have a competent team above the coach to vet and agree/reject on recruitment.

It’s not like the Ten Hag signings are the duds and non-Ten Hag signings resounding successes.

Ten Hag
Antony - massive fail
Onana - jury’s out but given we had a keeper who was a mixed bag to pay £47m and fail to upgrade is bad.
De Ligt - reasonable success
Martinez - reasonable success
Mazraoui - very good considering the fee

Non Ten-Hag
Hojlund - fail given the fee but still young enough to turn it around
Yoro - Big fee but looks promising
Zirkzee - Mixed bag. He’s improved but doesn’t have goals in him.
Mount - massive fail
Malacia - low fee but even then given the injuries it can’t be seen as a good signing. We might get most of the money back though.
Ugarte - Good so far
Casemiro - massive failure given the cost and wages involved. A few good months isn’t enough.

There is basically no pattern there other than we make a lot of big money signings which don’t work out.

The only thing that matters regarding signings is whether they fit what we need. Do they have the physical profile for the PL? Are they technically good enough? And maybe most importantly are they mentally strong?

If that means signing players from Sporting then so be it.

How have you come to the conclusion that the second list had nothing to do with Ten Hag? He was the manager and had the final say.

Also to say the jury is out on Onana is absolutely mental.

Because people were referring to signings made that Ten Hag had worked with and using that as a basis to not sign players from Sporting for Amorim.

Regarding Onana; obviously he's made some calamitous errors including last night again. I was being a bit generous I guess because we've also seen much better performances at times but I'm certainly happy to see him replaced if we can make that happen.

Tier 2:

Reminder: three parts of APT were found to be unlawful. The PL took care of those and tried to enforce the rest of APT, but City argued that all of it should be null and void. The tribunal ruled in their favour, so now these rules cannot be enforced.

If all of APT is now null and void, then INEOS can, in theory, sponsor United with a higher valuation should they choose to go down this route to increase the funds in the club.

Gyokeres, Wirtz and Quenda coming in the summer, fellas!

If you can’t beat them, join them in their cheating

Not sure INEOS can afford to do that unless they cancel sponsorships in other sports

Would they do it unless they get more guarantees from the glazers?

Like they have done in the rugby, cycling, sailing and were trying to sell off their share in Mercedes F1

They’ve been scrambling to cancel sponsorships left, right and centre.
