Why are you still here? For the Championship?
Why are you still here? For the Championship?
Not necessarily. United were negotiating a loan fee for Malacia with Benfica and couldn't come to an agreement on that.
More info on Tel (Tier 2):
Bayern were only okay with a straight loan if United weren't meeting the price that Spurs offered. I can see why United wouldn't want to offer a loan fee in this case.
Just to suffer. Every nightWhy are you still here?
No it wasn't, Bayern literally accepted a bid from Spurs for a permanent transfer, we were probably exploring all avenues of kicking the transfer fee down the road to make it fit under PSR, . Wasn't possible, both sides walked away. It's just a failed negotiation, happens all the time. That was obvious long ago.
Yeah, United should've just moved on once Bayern rejected all current/future purchase offers below what Spurs offered. I'd have thought that they'd have more experienced loan options lined up beyond Nkunku and possibly Bailey. Morata would've been a decent option, but Milan seemed like they always wanted a purchase option/conditional obligation baked into the deal. They wouldn't have gone for Santiago Giménez afterwards if they wanted to keep Morata after the loan.As Mazhar13 said, I'm surprised we spent so long negotiating for him then? He's been talked about for a good while as one of our main loan targets.
Did they not know he was a "completely unproven player that we’d be essentially helping to develop" all that time? Or did they not think we'd be asked to be the usual type of loan fee for a senior (first team) player going between Bayern and Man United?
Both of those things should have been obvious, and ruled out the deal, long before this time on transfer deadline day. Now we've ended up short on attacking players when we could've been looking elsewhere if we wanted "an experienced player" as you suggest would be better.
The likes of Morata joined Galatasaray on loan yesterday for instance. Why were we still in talks with Tel at that time and only just discovering that he was a raw 19 year old that we'd be helping to develop for Bayern? That was obvious long ago.
You realise we only have two non scoring strikers at our disposal right?
Proper joke from INEOS this. There were more than enough options even for a loan. Options that would have improved is. To keep going with these two clowns up front is crazy. Not unexpected by Ratcliffe but still crazy.

So we'll continue to battle for a mediocre mid to bottom half table finish then.
Stop it with this bs narrative. We bought 5 players of which 4 are at least proving to be decent, De Ligt, Ugarte, Yoro, Mazraoui.Savinho for £21m and Gundogan for free were their only signings in the summer and they made over £150m in sales, including up to about £80m on Alvarez. We spent a ton in the summer on mostly 2nd rate players and haven't made as much from sales.

And then what? Deadwood down the line. Some of you haven’t learnt anything. Not true at all. He wasn't great and he isn't prolific but he managed 15 goals in his first season and almost 1 in 2 during his second. He would have been excellent for Europa and taken some of the pressure off our current hapless set of strikers.
I don't think there's a huge difference between decent and 2nd rate, I agree that De Ligt, Mazraoui and Ugarte are decent (Yoro is a different situation because he's a highly rated prospegt who has struggled so far but is for the future). The problem is when you spend a lot of money stockpiling decent players then you end up with an unremarkable team.Stop it with this bs narrative. There’s plenty to complain about, but this isn’t it.
Good for him, though for me personally it will hurt my eyes seeing him in that shirt
A lot of posters need to realise this
Who?
Nkunku who's apparently made of glass
Felix who's done nothing
Tel who's as profilic as our current 2
Morata, Felix, Ferguson, Nkunku, Muani are all better than what we have.
I don't think the only two options are nothing or panic buy chaps.
So we'll continue to battle for a mediocre mid to bottom half table finish then.
I don't know how many times this has to be said. All this talk of panic buying is hilarious. Wouldn’t of been a panic if they didn’t leave it until the last day would it? Maybe actually do some scouting and plan for a window? Something which we haven’t done for years.
And fans need to realise it’s for the good!? If the 3 teams that came up wasn’t so shit we would be in massive danger of being relegated.
Yep, this.I don't think the only two options are nothing or panic buy chaps.
Yeah, that false dichotomy is extremely reductive. The key issue for me is that we need significant investment in the club over the next few years, but that's not going to happen as long as we remain under a minority ownership situation, as the Glazers won't pitch in and INEOS (understandably) won't want to give them a free ride.I don't think the only two options are nothing or panic buy chaps.
Zirkzee has out scored these players in the Premier League this season.Morata, Felix, Ferguson, Nkunku, Muani are all better than what we have.
I don’t see how crotchless trousers help.I don't think the only two options are nothing or panic buy chaps.
I don’t see how crotchless trousers help.
Oh I don't know. Given the way we seem to be intent on getting ourselves bent over for the rest of the season they would at least save some time.I don’t see how crotchless trousers help.
Ok, then our opinions aren’t that far apart, mate. I do think that in a more stable situation these players are able to help raise the level of the team. Let’s hope current leadership will be able create this more stable environment. I believe that with just a couple targeted procurements this summer (RWB Quenda, ST Gyokeres and a CM) we will be in a much better positionI don't think there's a huge difference between decent and 2nd rate, I agree that De Ligt, Mazraoui and Ugarte are decent (Yoro is a different situation because he's a highly rated prospegt who has struggled so far but is for the future). Say it as many times as you like? You can still plan potential incomings. It was looking likely Rashford and Antony were going at the start of the transfer window so plan for that.I don't know how many times this has to be said.
But it was made abundantly clear that there needed to be outgoings before we could make any furhter incomings.
Rashford went yesterday/today and Antony end of last week.
THere were clearly talks going on as we approached Chelsea for Nkunku and have been in talks with Tel for days.
Based on what? We continue to struggle to generate cash, and that's not going to get any better the longer we stay out of the CL.
Yep that’s the pattern they talk up what they are but their record in football is pure failure !Considering how things have gone with Nice, I am sure its wont bpother them as much as it bothers us the fans.
Like Nice fans warned us -- they promised a lot at the start. But will quickly disappoint with the lack of financial support; together with the constant changes of head coaches.
