Just sell him
We cant sell something/one we don't own. De Gea is out of contract, and we are not willing to trigger an extension on his current wages. At the moment I think de Gea is waiting to see who we sign, and if de Gea is likely to be number 2, he will look elsewhere. If we struggle to find someone and end up with a young inexperienced keeper, de Gea will fancy his chances of being number 1 and will stay.

SO happy to see this - Chelsea have to sell players by June 30. so unless they can offload others, i can see that price come down fast.

If Poch has no plan to use him and he doesnt want to stay - its just waste of money for them to keep him

Tier 2:

Broad terms were in place, but there's no formal offer yet to de Gea.

Doesn't bode well that the club in their wisdom doesn't even see value in bringing genuine competition for him, even if he were to stay.
All signs point to us bringing in another goalie. We want DDG to stay and to sell Henderson and then have DDG and new goalie battle it out for number 1. DDG going might change us getting rid of Henderson. Or we might need to get 2 new keepers.

Not surprising then that we've enacted Heaton's extension to ensure we have a number 3 keeper in place.

It’s quite telling that he’s out of contract in a couple of weeks and there’s no rumours about anyone being interested in signing him on a free transfer. I’d say that puts us in a healthy negotiating position which could allow us to reduce his salary by quite a bit and save upwards of £10m per year in wages.
Seeing that there are rumours of a Saudi deal for him. So that could really be the only other good option for him.

He's not gonna get a chance to be number 1 at another top club with his recent record.

A lot of of reports have said we will look for someone to compete with de gea if he signs a new contract, makes it sound like it would be a cheaper option than if he leaves. It's all just a bit dumb in a typically United way

Sure seems that way. Getting rid of his reported 375k/w contract would free up approx 20 million a year, allowing us to sign a goalkeeper for £50m at £175k/w in terms of FFP.

This is poor from the club.
Not if we're signing someone who is replacing him and he was destined to sit on the bench all season. I just can't imagine we're running our transfer business efficiently with the ownership hanging. That is poor.

If he’s not wanted, let him know and let him know early so he can find a club.

Shame about this one. Kim is really classy and will likely be the centerpiece of Bayern's defence for many years. Don't think we'll go back in for him as it's more than likely he would choose Bayern anyway.

Looks like the players Manchester United were linked with when the season ended are joining other teams. Mad to think the Felanni transfer wasn't a one off, it was setting a standard for united transfer policy for the next 15 years.
Love the hysteria around summer transfer window

I think the part that states he doesn't want to be backup means we have told him he won't be first choice. Rumors we have asked him to take a serious pay cut as well which further supports him no longer being first choice. Sounds like the decision is his.

The report says we haven’t offered him a contract.

Official: Axel Tuanzebe's a free agent

All the best to him but again, the right decision made. About 3 years late but still the right decision. Should have sold him to Villa when they came up.

This all feels a bit like the Pogba situation where there was an offer on the table but deliberately structured in a way where the player won’t accept it.

Would rather we were just blunt enough to not bother with an offer at all but it feels a bit like a PR game where we’re trying to avoid being the bad guys.

Or we weren't will to meet his wage demands and he wasn't willing to drop his salary to what we deemed acceptable. Everything doesn't have to be a big conspiracy.

I recall seeing reports he had a contract offer several weeks ago around the end of the season. Who knows.
Adisa's right, but peridigm isn't 100% wrong. There was no formal contract offer, but United did offer de Gea broad terms to get an idea of where he stands. As of now, it looks like de Gea himself is playing the waiting game.

It will be extremely disappointing if we lose out on Kim. This is a signing we need considering the lack of quality options at the position. We need to manage the minutes of Varane over the coming season. A player like Kim is a great value signing if you take the long term vision and perspective and the price he's available at.

The evidence suggests otherwise. Maybe his kids just weren't good enough for ours?

But they are good enough for a club currently ahead of us in terms of football quality and success* on the pitch. Surely this suggests they are pretty good players?
