It’s frustrating we’re baulking at £16M!

IF they don’t sell (which I find highly unlikely) they better spunk a lot of money in the summer. More than last season.
£16m for half a season where you don't get the option to buy him is stupid. Why would anyone spend that money on someone, fit them into their squad and team, only to have them ripped out at the end of the season, or put over a barrel if you do want to buy them? Atletico are being stupid.

But if £16M is the difference between UCL or no UCL - Is it worth it?

Agree. It’s just not enough value in that deal. Move on.

I would love him here, but you can't structure a deal that only suits you. He won't be moving if that remains their stance.

It is really just a deal made form them. It’s really ridiculous if someone takes it. I don’t see anyone stupid enough to do so.

I can see Arsenal taking it. Not much to lose for them, they need someone on, and once the player is there you have a much better chance of signing them permenantely (see Odegard).

They seem pretty hell-bent on Mudryk from Shakhtar, don't they?

Absolutely agree

Was really surprised to see some posters here suggesting it’s a great deal and no brainier.

Truly awful business and we should stay well away UNLESS there’s either some give on the monies involved or Atletico add an option.

Feeling the same. The usual suspects shitting on United for not falling over that deal, while it's in fact pretty terrible. Like you say, without any option or discount it's a show stopper

Aye, absolutely terrible deal that suits only Atletico.
16m for 6 months with no option would be absolutely idiotic.

Especially when you consider he’s still not really what we want.
People need to get to grips with United not splashing money at the moment, apparently we can't. So overspending on terrible deals or players we don't really need (like Gakpo) is the worst possible option when you need to make your money count

Absolutely true. And it’s smart for the club to do that until we sort out a take over.

If the right player comes up I’m convinced we will make it work but yeah that threshold has to be that bit higher at the moment.

Felix went from one of the worlds hottest prospects to barely anyone wanting him on loan. He fecked his own career by going to a team that plays the way atletico does. His style is completely the opposite. No one is going to loan him for that price.

Not without an option to buy they won't. Why should someone get him back in form to then risk being outbid in the summer.

Explain to me, in two paragraphs or less, how is that we didn't need an attacker that can play in every position of the front line–left, center, and right, can develop into a classic striker, is a prolific goal-scorer and assister, and who our manager wanted? Don't forget the amount of games coming up and how short our bench is. And please don't give me "he is not a No 9" BS.

Thank you

3 CBs is enough. Harry is barely playing as it is and AWB has started 2/3 games more than I have for United this season. That’s 140m worth of back up that you’ve just accepted there!
You can sell these players and bring in appropriate back up as well, aren’t we linked with Frimpong for 20 odd million for that very purpose? Even Henderson on a loan is atrocious business

Off topic, so we can take it to another thread if needed, but teams (in European competitions especially) cannot have a squad with three centre backs, baring in mind we have also have no one to step up from the reserves in that position.

AWB has been injured and so the appearances so far are irrelevant, it’s clear that Dalot has been overplayed. It’s highly likely we had no buyer - there’s not much we can do about that. The fact that we paid £140 million is irrelevant now because we wouldn’t be able to get close to that when selling.

There’s a good chance that by the end of this season some of these players will have had a much better season and we might actually be able to sell them, but the bottom line is, they have played so bad previously that the only clubs that could have afforded their wages wouldn’t be going near them.

Some media saying we are looking at versatile forward player if not No9/CF, Pulisic on loan from Chelsea if Felix ends up at Chelsea?

You can’t have an 80m back up CB and AWB always being injured doesn’t back him up. Plus we’ve relied on 3 CBs for a while no without any trouble, it’s just the quality of them that’s been the problem.
I’m not saying sell them for top dollar but it’s a group of players that collectively would cover the price of a new striker at the very least.
AWB, Maguire, VDB, Fred..that’s at least 100m there. These aren’t unsellable players.

£16 million ? feck off with that.

It’s so damn stupid. They want to get back the investment they made when they bought him, but fail to understand that some investments don’t pan out as you hope. You can’t set the same value or more when you want to cut your losses. I sincerely hope no one are stupid enough to do business with them on their terms.

Ten Hag would have known for a long time he wasn't coming to us. He shares the same agent for a start. He's also not an idiot who thinks we have unlimited funds.

Article goes on to suggest Morata as a loan option. The same Morata that starts nearly every game for Atletico. Just nonsense reporting.

I disagree here. Atletico are taking the absolute piss if they think it’s fair to loan out a player they’ve failed to develop for a fee with no option for the other club who will try to give him some value back to be able to buy him.

On the off chance he does well at United Atletico get their £100m+ investment back with added value and a loan fee too? No chance.

Felix is being offered out because they can’t get him to work in their system and I’m guessing they want a summer sale and bidding war.

It’s not frustrating. The deal being proposed is ridiculous. £16m loan for a few months with zero option or preference to make permanent? Crazy.

Season ends in May, so actually only 5 months, my guess is he'll move toward the end of Jan too, so 4 month's of a player who'll have to adapt to a new league when he hasn't set La Liga on fire in 3.5 years - hard pass.
