I don't expect us to sign anyone else until the club is sold, I would be genuinely shocked if we do. At best we'll get a stop-gap player on loan (Depay maybe).

Liverpool are up for sale too though. It didn't stop them. Hahaha

130-140M? Hahaha what are atlético thinking? They do know he hasn't lived up to the expectations, he's a rotation player and that his relationship with Someone is completely broken? If not someone should let them know asap.

Its obvious ETH wanted him - so when we badly needed a striker after Ronaldo left - why didn't we just agree a deal ?

He’s not really a striker though is he? Plays off the left.

Seems the club didn’t make a bid and remained unsure on him. Whether that’s wrong or right will be determined by the business we actually do ourselves next month.

Not sure if serious? Are you one of them who really think we were after a right footed player who play best on the left wing when we are in need of a proper CF. This place kills me at times.

Nice arrogant reply there

A young winger who is right-footed and plays on the left - hm...did you ever see Thierry Henry at Monaco or in his early days at Arsenal ? And why are we in need of a proper CF ? We are in need of a goalscorer - and Gakpo is one. City before Haaland arrived, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool have done really well without a "proper" CF - because they have wingers or attacking midfielders who score goals.

Oh and the last time I checked Salah was a left-footed player who plays on the right - and he seems to score a few goals.

Gakpo would never play over Rashford on the left wing, who happens to be twice the player. Same as second striker over Bruno. So unless he can play CF, it's pointless.

I’m sure you’ll agree we are very short of options through the middle, even more so now Ronaldo has left? There’s literally no focal point to the attack and given how Ten Hag wants to play this is a very important position to get right in terms of type and profile of player.

Gakpo would have been a nice addition to the squad but we’d still be missing the central player who would be the better fit right now.

They will keep briefing the press about their mythical 'most ideal' forward requirements while our rivals would simply sign the quality ones available.

Ffs we are on our knees.
They destroyed club and will walk with away with billions.

I think the saying is we need a striker on January 1 st, not January 31 st.

The work should be done by now, but the briefings makes you think it's not.

We’ll get someone on loan. The Antony signing was clearly influenced by the disastrous start to the season and the immense pressure on the Glazers following it. They never planned that outlay in the summer and we’ll see the knock-on effect in January. The only change is the Ronaldo contract off the books, I’m no accountant but doesn’t that lend itself more to another loan anyway?

That seems surprising. Is it?
I believe I read he had fallen down the pecking order at Ajax this season under the new manager and that he had been asked to be let go. As a mark of respect as he's been a good player for them for a long time, they were inclined to grant it.

I had read some murmurings of him going to Bruge too, which I think is where Overmars is now as DOF and another former Ajax coach in charge if I'm not mistaken.

Could be a good move for him.

Not if it don't fit those leeches constraints

This would explain why:

The point is that, whilst ten Hag liked Gakpo, he probably didn't like him enough as a centre forward.

Ten Hag on whether he's decided on Henderson's future:
No, I wouldn't give that decision already now. I think he is on a loan for one season. During the season, when the season is coming to an end, we will take a decision and that depends on a lot of factors. He is playing really well at Nottingham Forest.
