He started as a CB for Ten Hag when he came from Willem II i believe and in Ajax under Ten Hag when the team attacked with fullbacks he dropped down as a 3rd CB if im not totally mistaken.

Right but dropping from CM/CDM into a 3rd CB would be very different to play as one of the two deepest all the time. I imagine a big CF would love to play up against him.

I’ve always wondered why FDJ has CB, CDM and CM listed as positions on Football Manager. Has he ever played at CB?
He played a bit at cb at Ajax in a two, and two or three times for Barca. I believe he was their best player as a cb in a knockout game against PSG, but that was in a back three.

An example at Ajax:

It really is amazing how tight and in control he is in possession, not to mention his slick passing ability, and even bizarre the fact Barca haven't got the best out of him.
Looked tailor made for them.

Romano's responding to the upcoming story from Kurier (Austrian newspaper) about our advancing interest in the 19-year-old striker.

I can't find it anywhere on Kurier's website, which is why I'm guessing that it'll be in tomorrow's newspaper.

This is a transfer to get excited about. He looks like a real talent and is also perfect to play a few seasons as a second option.

He's pretty much a player who can take Greenwood's spot in the squad whilst offering something different to our whole team. Lots of clubs are eyeing him, though, so it won't be easy, especially when other English clubs get involved.

Somebody in our recruitment team must be playing FM!

Thanks to @Rolaholic in the Frenkie de Jong thread:

The key parts:

The 3rd Tweet isn't exactly what Helena Condis reported, but it's close enough.

Using google translate it only shows her mentioning Chelsea have an interest because they asked about the situation a month ago. I am pretty sure every top club asks about every top player that might move.

@DeJongFrenkie21
: Barça is confident that it will end up leaving (Chelsea also wants it). The obsession is Bernardo Silva. They don't throw in the towel.

If he takes another wage cut then so be it. Be absolute madness to be struggling to get what you're owed and then take another cut just when they have to start paying you.

I am fully aware AS will put a positive slant on it though as a Spanish paper so would wait for some more reliable sources in the next few hours.

So he's being asked to take another wage cut, with deferred payments until who knows when, on top of the fact that he may never realize those deferred payments. All while he's second choice behind Busquets and it is clear the club don't view him that well as an advanced center mid due to their signings of Kessie, pursuit of Bernardo Silva (not sure if it is really true, because he'd cost a bomb), and whoever else is a better natural fit.

I understand one's love and affection for something, but when they clearly don't reciprocate that love, affectation, and appreciation...you do have to stand up for yourself and know when to walk away due to poor treatment.

FdJ would be a tremendous add to the club and to the league, but ffs man, read the fecking room.

Last year with Messi it was reported La Liga doesn't accept wage cuts by more than 50%. If he's on 30m and 20m is their max, the cut should be between 33% and 50%

Last week there were stories that claimed Laporta said the max was €10m a year, so this new report of £20m for the max is quite different.

Plus wouldn't he lose the €17m in defffered wages if he signs a new contract? He could lose €40-50m if he agrees to take a cut. Does make sense to me if he does that.

Think it was €20m gross, €10m net

Nothing more than pressure Newcastle to buy him by mentioning us

Wait, €20m before tax is €385k/week. Makes you wonder how much we offered him…. Aren’t taxing in Spain lower than in UK aswell?

I managed to put up with our shit show of a season last year without too many complaints, but this transfer window has been an utter waste of time and money so far. It’s pushed me over the edge.

Eriksen, Malacia and Martinez for £60 or so millions - thats hardly a waste of money. Actually I am quite happy, because I believe at least 2 more players will join before the end of august. In an ideal world, they would all be here already, but the most important thing is that we get them - if that means them losing 4-5 matches - so be it.

This day and age, 3 players for United for £60m is great work
