He was and did okay there, but since that job, he's struggled wherever he's been, including with FC Cincinnati in MLS (even if the overall team has run poorly).
If he was to come in as a coach no issue. Wouldn’t be the first coach to fail as a manager

Newcastle attempt for Origi but the Belgian striker wants Milan. In the last few hours, the Magpies were added, who offered more than what the Rossoneri offer. Origi thanks but remains firm on his position, and does not change his mind. Waiting to define everything.

Rob Dawson's the co-author of this article, so there could be something to it.

EDIT: This is also being published in the Netherlands.

BREAKING: Erik ten Hag will become the next Manchester United manager.

From Odgen & Dawson's article, despite some in United favouring Pochettino, both Richard Arnold and Joel Glazer found ten Hag to be the best man for the job.

We're hearing that "finalize" thing at a week if not 2 and its Ogden, I don't think he's that reliable.

True. Not everyone's cut out for the managerial role, so if ten Hag wants to bring him in, then so be it.
And yet fans and media have treated Chris Armas very poorly despite being ‘only’ a coach and being Rangnicks chosen assistant.
less trendy name I suppose….

To date, as he said Sunday, K. Mbappé has not made any decision on his future. Discussions exist with PSG and with Real Madrid. If the tendency is rather to a departure, NOTHING is done for the moment, hence a certain game of poker between the 2 clubs.

Andy O'Boyle previously worked at Liverpool for 6 years as both a head of fitness elite development and as a first-team fitness coach.

Milan are knocking on the door of Marco Asensio, a certain target for this summer. Paolo Maldini's personal bet (as was Theo Hernandez), who has already made the player aware of his interest through his entourage in recent weeks. The Spaniard's contract expires in June 2023.

Bit weird to have deputy director of football to be a fitness coach.

That's not his current role, of course. He's been working in the Premier League for a good few years, so his work has gone beyond that of a fitness coach.

Who are the other candidates?

Can't read the article due to paywall.

Bloody hell, never thought he was even an option as a Leeds lad. A mobile DM would be perfect - only issue would be injuries? he's been out a while this season no?
I think he missed 4 months but Bielsa's approach was extremely taxing.

Just the 350m

Rice, Bellingham and a striker would be an amazing summer’s work. But those midfielders would cost £100m a piece. That said, I expect we’ll sell significantly this summer.

So our transfer strategy is STILL to buy extremely expensive English players no matter who the manager is? Who decides this? Surely not our scouts, and apparently also not the manager. I have no hope for this club if we continue like this.

I will never get this notion that targeting less good players demonstrates the club is finally making progress. We’re not filing for bankruptcy, if we can afford it then of course we will target quality.

All of these players mentioned have been long-time and long-scouted targets for the club, but now because they cost more than a fiver, they turn into ‘commercial signings’ or something? These are players we have wanted for years, and we are privileged to thankfully not have to write them off just because we mat be unable to get them until they cost a bit more. Varane was a decade long United target for example, fortunately for us, we got him when his value fell to something reasonable. But we’d have happily bought him at a higher point where his value was £100m too. The fact is, we can afford that - but the player is one we clearly wanted, and have scouted since he was an unknown.

There’s no honour in going for shit players just because they are shit and nobody else wants them.

After Maguire there's no way we'd do this. The harsh reality is english players will always cost more than they're actually worth.
Kane and Rice are brilliant footballers who would be tremendous for us. I’d be waiting until next year though unless we’ve found 400m under the couch - we need to build an identity and a team first before adding them and they’ll have 1 year remaining next summer. We can’t afford them and the CB, CM and RW we also need.

Agreed. And Bellingham is clearly a huge star in the making. People are making out that all English players are shit and we should avoid them all. The fact is that there is a benefit to bringing in proven PL players, as much as people might not like to hear it. I will agree though that being 'PL proven' isn't as important as fitting a style that the manager wants, but if these players have been identified as fitting the system and proven in the league, then it's win win.

Might just be him speculating over the obvious names because he doesn't know enough about ETH to come up with anybody else.
