Jonesy has every right to stay, given the shocking state of our squad this year Id be surprised of he doesn't get some games. Id be glad to see it

So thats 208 weeks worth of wages which equates to just under £700k a week for his transfer fee if you spread it out. So PSG could be said to have paid £1.1m / week for Mbappe over the course of his contract. I've ignored any bonuses etc because he will be getting those at RM as well on top of his salary.

There is a reason that free agent salaries are insane compared to those who are being transferred for money being paid to a club.

Yeah I'm surprised so many still don't seem to grasp this. Just the other day I had people telling me that Pogba won't get £400k a week elsewhere. There's a reason we ended up with De Gea on £375k a week and Sanchez on even more.

We tend to forget these people have families and there are considerations for children.
 
With what’s at stake, and our predicament already being tight, we’re utterly reliant on a couple of midfielders staying fit during a very heavy run in schedule. It’s such a risky way to see out the season, and if it goes tits up, an action that could cost us a fortune with the no CL tax then added to summer transfer fees.

We also have the problem of any more international breaks involving the South American players and when they get back into the country. All you need is Fred coming back and not being available to start a Saturday game. Pogba has to stay fit and at least show some endeavour. Matic can only be used alternate games of not whole games. I understand they want to save the money for the next manager, but what if we struggle to get Top 4 and then cannot get the manager or players this club think they are entitled to.

Meanwhile, Zakaria is having his medical at Juventus, 7M move ahead.
I don't get the strategy of our board. Another opportunity missed. Knowing our management, they'll probably throw 40M at Juve in 2 years.

Yeah, the whole thing makes no sense to me. We didn't have to splash out big bucks, but to not get some body/bodies in on the cheap or loan given what's at stake and how thin we are in that area of the pitch, is quite baffling.

We're gambling a fortune at the expense of relative pennies. It doesn't make sense.

100% this and the reason I don’t buy the new manager might not want this new player excuse. The new manager (if we don’t just keep Ralf, as I expect us to do) will probably not want half the squad anyway.

We can’t live in the future when our top four hopes are so slim. We are letting players go and losing another via terrible circumstances. We are a couple of injuries away from being in serious shit.

I hope we don't live to regret this and at least see out the season with our players intact enough to not have a 'what if' scenario come the end of the season. Huge amount of 'faith' (we don't know if RR's hands are tied) being shown in the players we have here with us doing nothing this window.

They do not seem to grasp that there a three well run clubs above us, we are in a situation where we are hoping Arsenal, Spurs and WHU cannot sustain their challenge and that our team actually realise they need to show up.

Welcome to the modern Manchester United, where common sense is stamped on. I guess what it means is that we've decided to give Hannibal a go as we're one injury away in midfield before we have to rely on our academy.

If this were a chelsea forum there’d be countless threads on why were we so inept at selling players and sending them out on loan all the time!

Nah, we'll throw 70 million (or more) at Declan Rice instead in the summer.
 
So we badly needed improvement on the wings and in midfield in January.
What we did was get rid of one midfield option, two wing options and of course another wing option got arrested.
We lost 4 players in our weak positions and got 0 in.

This whole story is “Tell me we’re Manchester United without telling me we’re Manchester United”. Criminal.

We can only hope Elanga delivers now… As for the midfield we are left with Fred Scott and Matic aren’t we? Fantastic.

What happened to that Pellistri guy or something, the uruguayan lad?

At Alaves on loan until end of season. Not sure how often he has played though.
