I really hope Murtough has got big plans for the summer because boy is our squad looking thin all of a sudden. Would be a great achievement for Ralf to land 4th at this point.

If we manage to get Dembélé motivated and firing, it could turn out to be an amazing deal. At only 24, I’m surprised he’s been written off by so many after being considered a £100 million+ player a few seasons ago. At £16 million he would be worth a punt.

Him and Pogba in the team, we will be playing 2 men down each game

A holiday to the Caribbean's is his biggest plan probably.

It looks like we are trimming the squad in advance of a fairly big summer for the new manager (at least in terms of quantity - it seems likely that we will look for make four or even five smaller signings and will probably stay away from big names/big money deals).

West Ham are just throwing 50m at every club and see who accepts no matter what position the player plays.

First Raphinha, then Phillips and now Nunez.

Why didn't they throw money at us for Lingard? Weakening a rival in the process too... :wenger:

Not sure about trimming the squad yet. I see reports of 6-month no obligation loan but no real transfer outs. Those players will still come back.
I suppose the only ones going out will be those that are running out of their contract (Lingard, Pogba?)

Everything is complicated, and there is little time left.

The quoted Tweet:
Let's go with the final madness: PSG talks with Barça to take Ousmane Dembélé, confirmed what came out in various media between France and Spain. Negotiation (complicated) underway. If the Blaugrana manage to get rid of the winger, they will go for Aubameyang, who is already tied up.

The quoted Tweet:

Barcelona wanted to rid of Dembele to savage some money I can understand. But to sign Aubameyang... What kind of team they're building? Their signings has been scattergun approach the past few seasons, but recently it's incomprehensible for me.

What possible reason would Jones have for not accepting the move? If he's serious about getting more football, then I don't see why he wouldn't go. Unless of course he's happy doing nothing and collecting his wages. Shock horror.

If I am Phil Jones and with how brittle our central defenders are and who the competition is I would be thinking if I stay at Utd I am probably going to get some game time. Jones has to be 4th choice now he is ahead of Baily for me. Maguire position as a guaranteed starter is very much up in the air and with Varane and Lindelof's injury issues he has a fair shout at getting some games. If I am him I am not leaving Utd to fight it out in a relegation battle in France unless I am guaranteed to start every game I am fit for, which they seem unwilling to give him.

I would like him to stay anyway. We may well need him.

Think poor Jonesy has gotten enough stick for us to know that he is not sitting on his arse intentionally...it may be case of him not getting good vibes off the club and why would you expose yourself to that for 6 months, moving or being away from your family. Surely there is a Scottish team that would fuking snap our hand off for him?

I think I read somewhere that they could not guarantee him a regular starting position.

I have the transfer news on Sky Sports switched on all day, and will be hoping we bring in 1/2 players even if they are loan deals. We need a DM and maybe a forward.

There is only one story they will be reporting on for united. Good luck to you though.

Prepare to be truly disappointed. There's a dark cloud hanging over United, and transfers are the last thing we can expect to hear about today!

Turn it off and save yourself the pain. You are wasting your time Im afraid. Not only are we not linked with anyone I cant remember us ever signing a player in a day.

Also Sky Sports on deadline day is just over hyped nonsense with the same stories running all day.

I just hope Lingard and Jones go. Would rather a reserve take their places. Massive rebuild in summer needed, I have written this season off already and if we managed to get top 4 I’d be really pleasantly surprised.

Oh dear Phil.

Happy to sit on his arse cashing pay cheques rather than actually play football it seems.

Who's going to give a guarantee on playing time to a guy that's been injured for years?

I've wished the beat for him previously, but feck that, after all those years injured, the lads a grifter now.
Don’t talk nonsense pops

would you want to uproot your family if you’re told you’ll probably just be backup?

he can be backup in a bigger shop window and probably get game time in cups at United

And there was us all thinking it looked glorious in the summer and we’d maybe see a title challenge from United :(

What a boring deadline day.
Is Jim White still around.. I remember deadline days used to be fun 10 years ago.

Pretty obvious the Board aren't prepared to sign anyone until the new manager comes in the summer. If you're only watching Sky Sports for news on Utd you're just wasting your time. VDB to Everton confirmation, Lingard joining Newcastle and maybe Henderson on loan to someone is the only Utd news you'll hear, all outgoings.

They have blocked Lingard now it seems. But I am still hoping we will bring in a midfielder.

Bordeaux are also shit this year, so it's not exactly attractive move apart from where in the world it is. Think he's right to turn it down if they're not going to guarantee he'll play.

United fans who are hitting F5 hoping for good news would be better just getting on with something else today. Just going to be dozens of players moving to rival clubs for peanuts while we struggle to get Phil Jones to go out on loan and there will be a big Dean Henderson / Lingard to Newcastle saga that goes right up to the deadline.

Not even linked with anyone
