AWB has more assists and goals than both Kyle Walkers and Reece James the past season by the way. But he’s awful going forward.

It's a good job the player who last touches the ball gets the assist... Nothing to do with build up play. Stats in regards to assist can mean nothing!

He has definitely improved that aspect of his game but Trippier is still an improvement going forward, I think it would be a good short-term / medium-term signing.

Stats really don't paint the full picture, especially with this one. Anyone that has the gift of sight and watches United can see he's got a long way to go when it comes to his attacking build up play. Teams are happy to give him time on the ball and sit off him which allows them to dedicate more men to other areas of the pitch.

I'm not sure he is to be honest. I think AWB improved this part of his game massively, I predicted he would and I think he was better than I expected.

Trippier is decent going forward and average defending.

I don’t think he’s a net improvement overall over the improved version of AWB, same as we’ve seen with Telles who many thought would be an upgrade on Shaw.

Villarreal were all to happy to shepherd possession out to Wan-Bissaka last week and it was an issue. I like Wan-Bissaka and see improvement in his game but we need support from right-back when playing the more defensive sides. Wan-Bissaka best performances come up against the likes of Mbappe or Sterling.

Mate because you acted like this "strategy" of ours is something genius and brand new. We always act slowly in the market. Been the case for many years now. No matter if it's beneficial or if it hurts us. We seem incapable of doing business quickly.

No, no I didn't.

1) This "ketchup" thing, happened the year we signed Di Maria.

2) This is a new year with Murtough in charge of transfers so it may be different

3) The only thing I was praising was the following post when I mentioned us losing Woodward and the business savvy clauses he input into the sell on clause for Lukaku.

Leeds target Nahitan Nández from Cagliar, just need to raise the cash. Inter and Roma also interested.

Not against signing Trippier, in fact I want it to happen. We would have 4 good wing backs then. But AWB isn’t half as bad as people make out. He’s also brilliant defensively.

That problem comes from having a non existent right wing when Greenwood doesn’t play. And when Greenwood does play he’s coming inside pretty much the whole time leaving AWB isolated when going forward. If we sign Sancho I see a massive improvement to our right side and we would be more balanced when attacking. He’s definitely improved his game going forward IMO and he’s not half as bad as people make out. I’d sign Trippier still and we would be sorted with the wing backs.

Isn't it better for AWB and us if opponents leave space for him to attack? He just has to improve his game gradually and it's quite evident on the pitch that he is improving in terms of dribbling and crossing. It's also because we don't have an existing natural right winger which Sancho will adequately fix. I wouldn't say no to Trippier though

I've found him so frustrating to watch all season, gets the ball wide in a decent attacking position, takes 2 or 3 touches and plays a rushed pass back into midfield. Either push for the line and cross or recycle it into midfield quicker before the opponent's defense is set. I like the bloke but he needs to massively improve on his end product attacking and also needs to switch on more in defence as he's prone to letting players drift past him. His great tackling isn't enough to make up for this. Maybe a few years playing under a more established right back will help him improve.

Yeah AWB's form took a dip right at the end of the season, I meant the in-form version we saw of him for the middle part of the season, we saw a much better offensive player at that time, I believe he's scored and assisted more than the likes of Walker. Of course he needs to maintain that form.

I'm hoping that at least Trippier will push AWB on and provide decent cover in a position we have no real options for rotation in.

I disagree, Trippier would be astute signing....Teams actually allow AWB to have the ball as they know he offers little idea going forward. Do i think he has improved, yes, i do, but still not good enough... Tripper gives us options in both full back positions, can cross a ball and defend well. Last year AWB was overplayed towards the end of the season he was running on empty and positionally i still think he is suspect, at very worst Trippier will provide cover and competition , if available for 15mill its a no brainer.

You mention Telles and Shaw...look how well Shaw has performed since Telles came in.... competition for places is a good thing, we need strength in depth and Trippier is an upgrade on Dalot and Williams

:wenger:

So he rather the team quality going down, and struggling to win. What a character and team player!
Would you like to take a cut to have someone new coming at your job ?
No employers should ask that to be honest !
I know they earn millions and all but money is not free !

I didn't say it wouldn't be a decent signing, I followed up to say that he would offer good rotation and competition, my first post was to say I don't think he would be an upgrade on the improved version of AWB overall.

I would definitely bring him in though, we literally have no options in that position and he's a tidy player. Just not an improvement on the starting 11 (imo)

I like AWB too and think he is good and will progress.
He is good in duels and tackles but has to improve his positioning defensively. He costed us several goals this season playing the players onside. Everytime we concede because of it I am f*cking mad !
