Yeah, I think he’s one of those players whose status + mentality is more important than his actual quality (though he does cover that right pocket well with Trent). Liverpool can’t afford to lose him so quickly after Wijnaldum. They’ll have no midfielders left!
They have plenty of cover with Fabinho and Pointy McPointerson.

I had a feeling that moving on one of Henderson or de Gea would be tough.

Heston is doing what Ole will have asked from him there. Not sitting on the bench and picking up his retirement funds but putting pressure on De Gea and Henderson for the #2 spot.

I’m really pleased that both De Gea and Henderson are staying, it was a thing a few years ago where teams had League keepers and Cup keepers and it seemed pretty successful and a good way of keeping them both match sharp and on their toes.

What you don’t want is one of your keepers taking for granted that they are the “Cup/League Keeper” so having someone like Heaton who is prepared to put pressure on them can only be a good thing.

At the moment I think it’s Fabinho; Thiago; Jones. Ox and Keita are just terrible depth options for fitness and lack of proven quality anyway

Yeah, no way do Thago, Ox and Keita make it through a season without some significant time on the sidelines. Especially in a Klopp system.

Both De Gea and Henderson staying is terrible in my opinion, I think the swapping and changing isn't going to help either of them one bit.

I know they won't get a club for him but it had to be De Gea who was sold in my opinion, he's had his better days and is clearly in decline. People whinge about the contract Jones is currently sat on, the De Gea contract is the bigger issue for me, it's about five times what Jones earns and it still has about three years to run.

To me it's typical of United, I really don't see how we plan forward with player sales and youngsters coming through, e.g., Bailly's contract was extended which means that Axel has to go out on loan, with a new CB coming in.

We now have James, Sancho, Rashford, Amad, Pellistri, Elanga, Chong & Martial for that wing/wing forward position, granted some are further behind in their development.

The full back position is no different, we have Shaw, AWB, Telles, Williams, Laird, Dalot & Trippier is being considered.

Ings for a reasonable fee wouldn't be a bad deal at all and would almost certainly get 15+ goals, the issue is that after going from talks of Haaland, Lukaku, Lewondowski etc it feels like a let down.

It could end up being a smart deal but i question if he is better than Abraham, Giroud or Havertz

If ever there was a player who fits a club like a glove — Nathaniel Phillips and Burnley. His aerial success is freaky. 6.05 successful aerial duels per 90!

Some comparisons:
Maguire - 4.12
Zouma - 4.05
Vestegaard - 4.28
Tarkowski - 5.14
Mee - 4.2

City have reached the point where they just have to sign someone in this window then

Seduced by football clubs. I've heard it all now.
West Ham and fecking Wolves too! Jesus wept, I can imagine the bloke signing, “this for me, a dream come true….there’s just something magical about molineux under the lights…..when we hoof it long to the striker for 90 mins…..the beauty of Wolverhampton “
