Why did Crystal Palace let him go on a free though.. he's been a regular for them

Not really. Has lost his pace and offered very little by the end, was benched for Ayew/Schlupp/Eze. From our perspective there are much better ways to spend 70k a week to be honest. Wish him luck though, nice guy.

Saul would be an underwhelming signing, he's been poor for a long time.

Broja was great for Vitesse. Very strong, fast guy that's constantly looking to make runs in behind. Only 19y old. I don't think he brings much versus a parked bus, but he'll definitely make mid-lower table PL.

Last season he was poor no question. When else are you referring to because from what I can see he's been pretty consistent for them in previous seasons averaging about 8 goals a season from a deep lying midfield role.

I think he's a quality player personally and things just gone a bit stale for him at Atleti.

12 months isn't that long a time, especially considering he wanted out last year and the cramped season everyone was part of.

Official: Strasbourg sign Kevin Gameiro from Valencia. This is a pretty good signing from them. Gameiro is still a good forward despite not playing regularly.

Only way we get Saul is if Pogba’s off. He’d be a big downgrade too IMO but he does put himself about a lot more than Pogba.
Pogba plays about 5 good games a year. He has been a huge disappointment since he arrived for a record fee a few years back. Between his wages and his fee we could have spent that money far better. On his day he is world class his vision and passing world class but he didn't or hasn't done it often enough. If pogba wants to go we should hold both doors open for him.

As for Saul I wonder is that reason Mata stayed on another year, Spanish link would help bed Saul in.

Ok I watched him during start of the season and he had a consistent run...

It’s more the fact it’s a CM signing. Personally I’d want Rice but we’ll see.

If and that’s a big IF because I think Pogba is staying. Pogba goes we need 2 CM’s as we’d need a new CM in midfield, moving to 433 wouldn’t work with McFred because that’s what’s being used in the double pivot, if you wanna do that, why change formation?

Saul would be a Pogba replacement IMO. Planning ahead in case he goes this summer or next summer on a free. May as we’ll get him while he’s available on the cheap. He’s a quality player and he’d be very good as a number 8. Unfortunately that’s the position in midfield we are most stocked in IMO. Both Fred and McTominay opérate best as an 8. He’s certainly an upgrade on both, even if I rate Fred fairly highly. I could see us getting Saul and playing Fred or McT behind him in the 6 role. Even though I don’t think it’s their best position. A fair amount of solidity to that midfield along with Bruno.

Nevertheless, his signing wouldn’t change the need to sign a pure 6.

Meh Mirror. As United fans, yall should be used to your name being used. Until Matt Law says we are in for Varane, it is fluff.

If we were offered anything more than 5M I would say the deal is subject to close scrutiny for money laundering/corruption of some sort. (I am not a fan of the lad)
Well lets hope we can get something for him, but I doubt there would be any takers after yesterdays performance against Derby. He wasn't that good at all he needs to go.

It's only good news for us, regardless of how you rate him, he's been massively important for Liverpool. They appear to be on the downward trajectory from their two years on top.

Yeah, I think he’s one of those players whose status + mentality is more important than his actual quality (though he does cover that right pocket well with Trent). Liverpool can’t afford to lose him so quickly after Wijnaldum. They’ll have no midfielders left!
