The United journalists have all mentioned that the budget is set up to finance two major purchases without sales. We already completed one with Sancho, and the second one looks likely to be one of Varane or Camavinga. The rest need to be facilitated with sales/outgoing transfers.

This was a unique case, to be fair. Giroud was a free agent, but Chelsea gave him a new 1-year contract so that they couldn't lose him for free, especially within the Premier League. AC Milan were interested as the player's camp notified them of a significant discount, which seems to be this full 2-million-Euro fee.

In the end, I think Chelsea will be happy with that seeing as they're recouping something for Giroud whilst not having to worry about him in the Premier League.
