The major development here is that Hakimi himself has actually chosen PSG over Chelsea.

That is huge money - Why on earth did Real sell him after that brilliant season at Dortmund

I know a lot of our fans have a strong dislike of lukaku but this comment is a bit silly. He did score a fair few goals in the pl before going to italy

His level has always been that of a lad who will score plenty of goals against weaker sides, or when the pressure is off.

But if he went to City he'd fold under the pressure like he did at United or he does toward the business end of big tournaments for Belgium.

Hakimi's a terrible defender, and Real Madrid don't play with a setup that can accommodate him. Inter, in contrast, play with a back 3 and have two midfielders who can defend at an adequate enough level.

PSG often have 2-3 midfielders who can defend adequately, and they also play a back 3 on several occasions. He'd fit into PSG's setup.

But they have played Lucas Vazquez at RB/RWB for a good chunk of the season.

Probably due to Carvajal being Spanish (though he's not bad, either). What they should've done was loan him out to Inter, let his value increase even more, then they'd be getting the huge fee for him and not Inter.

Recently, yes, but back then, they weren't willing to go down that route. Only when Carvajal had his injury problems and Odriozola failed to perform well did Zidane start to play Lucas Vázquez.

He'd have been better than Vázquez in that role, for sure, but Zidane and co. weren't expecting to have to go down this route before the season started.

The deal will be a loan with a purchase option. Expect to see more of Luca Pellegrini for Juventus next season.

Right, but financially he is now worth €70m. They could do with that.

Yeah, the money would have been great, but I don't know if Hakimi would have played often enough at Madrid to be valued that highly. Carvajal is the first-choice right back at Real Madrid.

The options:
  • Denzel Dumfries (costly)
  • Héctor Bellerín
  • Davide Zappacosta

Underwhelming beaide Dumfries.

If I am in our football director position, I would approach Inter and offer Dalot to them

They're looking to cut their costs, so those targets make sense to me. You can see why Conte left when they're taking this more frugal direction.

Yes. I remember we paid around that much. However, from what I see, we're trying to offload Dalot taking loss.

Didn’t turn out to be the player we hoped, but if we can sell him for 15 million, I think it’s a pretty solid deal. Net loss of 5 million, but if that’s all we lost every time we tried to figure out someone’s quality, I would take it. Not counting on anything considering pandemic finances, but someone someone will take a chance on him

who do you think we are Chelsea?

we'll farm him out on loan again and take about £3m next summer

Hmm...does that mean people expect England to lose to Germany yet again, a bang average Germany this time?
It makes absolutely no difference what people expect. This has been a recurring problem for England, celebrating the victory before the match is played. Just wait and see what happens.

I think most England fans expect to lose so not sure anyone is celebrating. Sure there is generally optimism before tournaments or after good performances (rare) as with all teams but expectations are pretty low. I think some see a optimism as arrogance or entitlement.

We have a chance, if we play well (rare) and Germany don’t. The reality will probably be that we won’t.

No they don't, but don't let that dampen your United bashing.
No one conducts their business like us. The only comparison I can think of is Real Madrid with the Ronaldo, Bale saga's etc. I'll happily bash our transfer dealings which is far better than the weirdo's on here who consistently bash our best players in Bruno and Pogba - that I don't understand.

I'd agree that our transfer dealings could be much better. However the main issue is the media. Manchester United means papers sold and websites clicked on so we get a constant barrage of bs about transfers and that makes the entire thing drag out far more than at any other club. We always think other clubs are more efficient but in reality it's in a large part down to their everymove not being reported so it seems to be out of the blue and speedy. We're not the best, but the media love to make is look worse than we are.

If i was Utd id think the same, a clearly unsettled player with whom terms have been agreed, no other potential bidders, and yet dortmund not moving on their 'price'. are dortmund really in a position not to budge? (no matter how much they brief they are). also the great unknown is the make up of agents fees / commissions.

So we are haggling over 10m Euros now. There must be transfer kitty of around 150m pounds. As we've seen before.
Varane or Torres for around 65m Euros. Sancho - 85m Euros and a right back for around 25 m Euros is exactly 150m pounds.

Torres has 65m Euros release clause so Real would probably hold out for 65m Euros for Varane so they can just go and replace the latter with Torres.
That negotiation will drag out too.

We might be set on the transfer budget hence the tweet we're trying to find money.

Haven't journalists been rewording the 10 mil difference for the last few days now?

I think it's pretty clear the Sancho transfer isn't going to be announced till after the Euro's, United are going to want to show off their marquee signing of the summer.
